Job Description: Legal Intern

Reports to: Legal Counsel

OCI Energy LLC (Company) is a respected solar power and battery energy storage project developer, owner, and operator. We have an opening for a Legal Intern to provide support to the legal department in this growing organization and fast-paced environment. This position is located in San Antonio, Texas and is an opportunity for a law student or new attorney to be exposed to and gain practical experience working in an in-house legal department. As this is an hourly position, part-time schedules will be considered to accommodate the Legal Intern’s academic program.

Job Summary:

As supervised by and at the direction of the Company’s Legal Counsel, the Legal Intern will provide practical day-to-day support to the Legal Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Legal Counsel and Paralegal with Legal Department records management
  • Assist Legal Counsel and Paralegal with contract compliance
  • Assist Legal Counsel with preparation of closing documents and follow-up on outstanding closing checklist items
  • Collaborate with Paralegal to form new legal entities and draft associated governance agreements
  • Provide such additional support to Legal Counsel and/or General Counsel as requested from time to time

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing, or having recently received, a Juris-Doctor from either (i) a U.S. ABA-accredited university or (ii) a Texas Supreme Court approved university
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving and skills
  • Positive work attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Professional demeaner
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Interest in pursuing business, transactional or corporate law, particularly as pertains to renewable energy
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and transactional software (preferred)
