Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Evening Legal Assistant to support attorneys across litigation, wealth management and corporate practice areas during evening hours (5:00 PM-12:00 AM). This role is critical to ensuring seamless after-hours case support, document preparation, and exceptional client service. The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigation professional with strong skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment while working independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Litigation Practice Support

  • Prepare, proofread, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
  • Manage case files, including document organization, indexing, and filing
  • Coordinate and support discovery processes (document production, deposition preparation, exhibit management)
  • Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including binders, exhibits, and logistics

Corporate Practice Support

  • Collaborate with evening team members to prepare, revise and proofread corporate documents
  • Prepare signature packets and compile executed agreements
  • Provide general administrative support for corporate matters as needed

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Provide after-hours coverage for attorney and client needs
  • Proofread, format, and style complex legal documents to firm standards
  • Proficiency in preparing Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents, or a strong aptitude for learning document production processes and procedures
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information
  • Coordinate with daytime staff to ensure continuity of work and handoffs

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of legal assistant experience, with significant exposure to litigation
    • Demonstrated experience supporting corporate or transactional practice areas
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including document styling and redlining
    • Experience with document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments)
    • Familiarity with litigation support tools
  • Core Competencies:
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, especially under tight deadlines
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during evening hours
    • Ability to collaborate with other evening staff members to assess priorities and ensure all work is completed in order of importance
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability
