Job description

Join Orange EV, a fast-growing manufacturer of electric vehicles that are better for the earth, people and the bottom line. Make a difference for the world as part of a company leading the electric vehicle revolution.

Orange EV is the industry leader in electric terminal trucks, with more than 350 fleet customers across North America and the most proven electric yard trucks in the market. Our customers trust Orange EV to power mission-critical operations at warehouses, distribution centers, ports, rail terminals, manufacturing facilities, and logistics yards. Now we're looking for an entrepreneurial leader to transform our Fleet Rental & Leasing business into a major strategic business segment. This is not a role for someone looking to maintain an existing operation. We are seeking a builder—someone who can bring vision, leadership, operational excellence, commercial acumen, and financial sophistication to scale our business 5X while creating the team, systems, processes, and infrastructure necessary to support that growth. Success in this role requires thinking beyond rentals or leases as standalone products. The objective is to maximize the utilization, profitability, and strategic value of Orange EV-owned fleet assets across their entire lifecycle while creating exceptional customer experiences and driving long-term company growth.

Job Description

As Director of Fleet Rental & Leasing, you will lead the strategy, growth, operational execution, and overall business performance of Orange EV's Rental & Leasing business across North America. You will be responsible for transforming Fleet Rental & Leasing from an emerging offering into a scalable, high-performing business unit. The successful candidate will maximize the utilization, profitability, and strategic value of Orange EV-owned fleet assets by developing creative rental, lease, and fleet deployment strategies that meet customer needs while optimizing return on invested capital. You will drive adoption of Master Rental Agreements (MRAs) and Master Leasing Agreements (MLAs), creating a seamless pathway for customers to quickly deploy rental and leased trucks whenever operational needs arise.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision to scale Orange EV's Fleet Rental & Leasing business 5X
  • Expand rental and leasing adoption across Orange EV's existing customer base
  • Lead initiatives to establish Master Rental Agreements (MRAs) and Master Leasing Agreements (MLAs)
  • Identify new customer segments and growth opportunities

Rental & Leasing Portfolio Management

  • Develop rental, operating lease, and finance lease strategies
  • Partner with banks, financing companies, and leasing partners
  • Optimize asset utilization across rental, lease, and sales channels
  • Evaluate lease structures, residual values, and portfolio performance

Commercial Leadership

  • Partner closely with Regional Sales Managers and National Accounts leaders
  • Support customer engagement strategies that position rental and leasing as integrated fleet solutions
  • Lead negotiations involving rental agreements, lease agreements, and strategic accounts

Rental Operations & Infrastructure

  • Architect and build the operational infrastructure required for a rapidly scaling business
  • Oversee contracts, inspections, logistics, billing, reporting, and lease administration
  • Develop scalable workflows, SOPs, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tool

Fleet & Asset Management

  • Own the financial performance of the Fleet Rental & Leasing business, including utilization, revenue growth, profitability, and return on invested capital
  • Manage fleet acquisition, deployment, lease placement, redeployment, refurbishment, remarketing, and disposition
  • Optimize asset productivity and lifecycle economics

Risk Management & Governance

  • Manage operational, contractual, insurance, financial, and asset-related risks
  • Work with financing partners and insurance providers to establish scalable programs
  • Partner with Finance and Legal to protect company assets

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build and lead the future Fleet Rental & Leasing organization
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor team members
  • Foster a high-performance entrepreneurial culture

Position Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in rental, leasing, fleet management, transportation, logistics, trucking, equipment rental, vehicle finance, or related industries
  • Proven success building, scaling, and managing rental, leasing, or fleet asset management operations
  • Strong understanding of lease structures, asset financing, residual value management, and fleet economics
  • Experience working with banks, captive finance organizations, equipment finance companies, or leasing providers
  • Strong commercial, operational, and financial leadership capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Ideal Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience with terminal trucks, yard trucks, hostlers, or heavy-duty fleet equipment
  • Experience structuring operating leases, TRAC leases, FMV leases, or equipment financing programs
