Position Summary
Two Sigma is a leading quantitative investment management and trading firm. The company applies a scientific approach to investing, combining cutting-edge technology, artificial intelligence, data science, and quantitative research with rigorous human inquiry to capitalize on market opportunities and deliver alpha for investors.
Our team of engineers, quantitative researchers and data scientists looks beyond the traditional to test hypotheses and develop creative solutions to some of the world's most complex economic problems.
We're looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) who thrives at the intersection of engineering complexity and business impact. In this role, you'll drive the execution of critical initiatives across our engineering organization - partnering with Product Management, Engineering, Modeling, Finance, and our Business Partners to turn ambitious ideas into delivered results. You'll work alongside a group of extremely capable, motivated, and self-identified "nice geeks" tackling some of the most interesting machine learning and data challenges in the industry.
This isn't a role where you simply track status. You'll shape how work gets done - building execution plans, working closely with engineers to clear obstacles, managing dependencies across teams, and defining the metrics that tell us if we are succeeding. If you love bringing structure to complex technical programs without slowing down the people doing the work, read on.
You will take on the following responsibilities:
  • Own the end-to-end program lifecycle - from inception through production - for one or more strategic initiatives, partnering closely with engineers, product managers, and other TPMs to define scope, sequence work, and drive delivery.
  • Identify and resolve obstacles before they become blockers, escalating decisively when needed.
  • Lead team rituals - sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives - with a focus on making them genuinely useful rather than performative.
  • Provide clear, honest reporting on program health, status, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive cross-functional communication laterally and upward - proactively ensure that the right people have the right information at the right time. Bridge gaps between peer teams, surface decisions that need escalation, and keep leadership aligned on progress, risks, and resource needs so there are no surprises.
  • Adapt plans as business priorities shift, working with engineering and product leadership to re-sequence work and protect the most critical outcomes.
  • Contribute to the evolution of TPM practices, standards, and tooling across the organization - helping raise the bar for how programs are run at Two Sigma.

You should possess the following qualifications:
  • BS or equivalent work experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (an MS is a plus).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required; 1-10 years of experience preferred in Technical Program Management.
  • Experience coordinating across teams - you've helped align engineers, product managers, or other stakeholders around shared goals. You don't need to have run a massive program, but you should be comfortable working across boundaries and influencing without direct authority.
  • Hands-on experience partnering with engineers - you're someone technical teams trust and want to work with.
  • Experience with execution methodologies and tools including Agile and Jira - applied pragmatically to keep complex programs on track.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills, with the ability to decompose large problems, identify dependencies, and manage multiple parallel workstreams across distributed teams.
  • Practical data and metrics skills, with experience using quantitative measures to drive execution, surface risks, and optimize business value.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and visual - with a talent for translating sophisticated technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language.
  • Hands-on technical fluency - experience leveraging GenAI tools or scripting in Python to accelerate your own work is a plus.

You will enjoy the following benefits:
  • Core Benefits: Fully paid medical and dental insurance premiums for employees and dependents, competitive 401k match, employer-paid life & disability insurance
  • Perks: Onsite gyms with laundry service, wellness activities, casual dress, snacks, game rooms
  • Learning: Tuition reimbursement, conference and training sponsorship
  • Time Off: Generous vacation and unlimited sick days, competitive paid caregiver leaves
  • Hybrid Work Policy: Flexible in-office days with budget for home office setup

The base pay for this role will be between $125,000 and $300,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
