Summary / Purpose
Professional Development Customer Experience Specialist provides high-quality customer service and support for early childhood educators. This position assists with professional development (PD) training coordination by supporting training logistics and registration for online and in-person training while delivering excellent customer experiences. This role also supports learning management system (LMS) operations, content maintenance, and data management. The position requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills to support both daily operations and larger organizational initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Support and Training Coordination Support
  • Respond to inquiries from childcare providers and early educators via phone, email, and in person.
  • Assist customers with the Develop website, including account setup, membership management, training searches, and registration support.
  • Enter confirmed training details and attendance into the Develop system accurately and promptly.
  • Staff evening and weekend training sessions, including participant sign-in and room setup.
  • As needed, assist with preparation of training materials, participant records, and attendance tracking to ensure accurate training documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to support the successful coordination and delivery of virtual and in-person learning opportunities.
  • Provide learner support before, during, and after training events, ensuring a positive customer experience and timely resolution of questions.

Learning Management System Support
  • Support the LMS Administrator in maintaining learner records, training data, and course content and availability within the Learning Management System.
  • Assist LMS users with account setup and access, navigation, training searches, registration support, and basic troubleshooting while escalating technical issues as needed.
  • Provide accurate reporting and learner documentation.
  • Monitor training enrollments, attendance, and completion records.

Marketing Support
  • Assist customers in purchasing training bundles
  • Assist with creating marketing materials
  • Assist with sales outreach

Accountability and Operations
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data privacy and security standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and provide backup support to team members as needed.
  • Meet established departmental goals and job performance standards.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in all tasks and communications.
  • Maintain proficiency in required computer systems and programs.
  • Complete assigned projects and monthly reporting on schedule.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Serve as a backup for colleagues and assist with cross-functional duties as needed.

Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, managers, trainers, and customers.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborative projects with internal and external teams
  • Foster positive working relationships with diverse groups and individuals.

Requirements
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include Early Childhood Education, Child or Human Development, Family Life or Parent Education, Family Studies, Family Science, Human Services, or a related area.

OR
  • Associate's degree in one of the above fields and two years of work experience in the related field;

OR
  • Current enrollment in Early Childhood coursework or CDA program and three years of work experience in the related field.

Experience:
  • Experience in data entry, customer service, or administrative support preferred.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of early childhood education and development (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and data management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (preferred).
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent computer and phone use.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computers, keyboards, and telephones.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving materials, furniture for training setup).
  • Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and proof of insurance required for metro-area travel.
