Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Learning and Development, the Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, facilitating, and continuously improving learning and talent development initiatives across the organization. This role leads the development of scalable internal processes that support effective training delivery, ensures high-quality facilitation of annual and leadership development programs, and drives career pathing and individual development planning efforts.

The Learning and Development Specialist partners closely with organizational leaders and Subject Matter Experts to identify development needs, build structured learning solutions, and foster a culture of continuous growth. This position plays a key role in strengthening leadership capability, supporting internal mobility, and enhancing team member engagement and retention through intentional development strategies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Internal Organizational Process Training

  1. Designs, develops, and delivers training on internal organizational processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness across teams.
  2. Creates and maintains training content, job aids, and SOP-based learning for core business processes.
  3. Partners with cross-functional leaders to identify process gaps and translate them into targeted training solutions.
  4. Facilitates process-focused training sessions and reinforces application through practical exercises and follow-up support.
  5. Evaluates effectiveness of process training through performance data, feedback, and operational outcomes; implements continuous improvements.
  6. Supports change management efforts by developing and delivering training aligned to new or updated processes.
  7. Ensures all process training aligns with brand standards, compliance requirements, and organizational strategy.


Facilitation of Annual Trainings & Leadership Development Support

  1. Facilitates and helps support organization-wide annual training initiatives and calendar.
  2. Delivers instructor-led training (ILT), virtual sessions, and blended learning experiences for leaders and team members.
  3. Partners with SMEs and leadership to co-facilitate or support training delivery as needed.
  4. Leads curriculum and content build out for annual trainings in partnership with SMEs.
  5. Supports facilitation of Leadership Development Programs (LDP) sessions, ensuring consistency, engagement, and learning transfer.
  6. Prepares facilitation materials, session plans, and participant communications for all training events.
  7. Evaluates training effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and performance outcomes.
  8. Coaches and supports internal facilitators to build facilitation capability across the organization.
  9. Ensures all facilitation aligns with adult learning principles and organizational culture expectations.


Career Pathing & Development Planning

  1. Supports and maintains structured career pathing frameworks for key roles across the organization.
  2. Supports and implements individual development plans (IDPs) aligned with career progression and organizational needs.
  3. Partners with leaders to identify talent gaps and create targeted development strategies.
  4. Supports leaders in conducting career conversations and guiding team member growth.
  5. Aligns learning plans with career pathways to ensure clear progression opportunities.
  6. Tracks and evaluates effectiveness of development plans on retention, promotion rates, and internal mobility.
  7. Creates tools and resources to support career growth visibility and accessibility.
  8. Promotes a culture of continuous development and internal advancement.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  2. Demonstrated ability to facilitate training and apply adult learning principles.
  3. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Experience designing curriculum aligned to business needs and learner audiences.
  5. Ability to partner with Subject Matter Experts to develop learning solutions.
  6. Ability to deliver training in a clear, engaging, and effective manner.
  7. Maintains a positive, professional presence aligned with organizational expectations.


Training and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, training, or education.
  2. Minimum of four years in the field of Learning and Development, or Human Resources to include facilitation and program design.
  3. Experience with Articulate required.
