Job description

BIS Safety Software is a SaaS company on a mission to change how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance. We are hiring a Learning & Development Program Builder to create and deliver programs that help take our people to the next level.

About the role:

You will design and deliver the programs that we will use to develop our team, validate them through early trials, and document them thoroughly so the work carries forward after the contract concludes. The priority programs are a team lead/manager development program, department specific training for new hires, BIS product literacy, and advanced AI capability training, with a documented foundation established for the remaining areas.

Success in this role means the training you build actually gets used, and the next owner can run these programs on their own.

This is a maternity leave cover position and is expected to run about 6 to 9 months. This is an in-person role based out of our Sherwood Park, Alberta office

In this role, you'll be expected to:
  • Lead discovery - interview team leads and leadership to identify where the most significant skill gaps exist, and work to understand how BIS operates before designing programs
  • Build the team-lead/manager development program - equip team-leads/managers with the skills to manage and develop their teams effectively
  • Establish a repeatable onboarding framework - set team members up for success quickly via development aimed at helping them perform at their best
  • Develop a BIS product knowledge program - getting new team members up to speed on the nuances of our software
  • Create AI literacy training - capture the expertise of our internal AI team and translate it into a program that helps other team members unlock what AI can do for them
  • Deliver L&D programs - run and facilitate the sessions yourself and get early wins that show the approach works
  • Document each program as it ships - provide a build rationale and delivery guide so the programs can be carried forward after the contract ends
You might be the right fit if you:
  • Have built programs from the ground up - manager development, skill curricula and onboarding - rather than only delivering content designed by others
  • Have worked in an L & D or talent development position before - you're familiar with this type of work and have experience and know-how when it comes to what needs to get done
  • Identify the underlying need - you determine what people genuinely need to learn and develop programs that build real capability
  • Work fluently with AI on a daily basis - using your own tools and agents and iterating quickly, which is what makes a build on this timeline feasible
  • Document consistently - you deliver a function that can operate without you rather than one dependent on your presence
  • Build buy-in through discovery and delivery - you conduct stakeholder interviews effectively and produce training the organization takes seriously
  • Work with a sense of urgency - you are suited to a hands-on build and working at a quick pace
  • Iterate and incorporate feedback well - you stay persistent through early drafts and identify the real need beneath what people express
Bonus points if you have:
  • An adult learning background
  • Built role-specific onboarding before, particularly for sales or marketing
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life insurance and disability insurance
  • Health spending account
  • Flexible working hours
  • On-the-job training and growth opportunities
$80,000 - $90,000 a year
Salary ranges are based on experience, reflecting the unique skillset each individual brings to the role.
