Job description

SUMMARY:
The Learning & Development Specialist supports the organization’s purpose by designing, developing, producing, high-quality learning content and experiences that build technical, business, and people capabilities across the organization. This role blends strong instructional design and development expertise with project management, and cross-functional partnership to create impactful learning solutions that support both division-wide and region-specific learning initiatives. The L&D Specialist reports to the L&D Manager.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, and update high-quality instructor-led, virtual, and eLearning experiences in support of our organizational goals and values.
  • In partnership, develop effective learning experiences, content, and programs tailored to the construction industry, with the ability to create new content or adapt existing content for diverse roles, departments, and business entities.
  • Create engaging, high-quality content across multiple modalities, including:
    • eLearning (Articulate Storyline, Rise, etc.)
    • Instructor-led training (ILT) PowerPoint
    • Virtual instructor-led training (VILT/WebEx/Teams)
    • Job aids and performance support tools
    • Video-based learning
    • Apply blended learning strategies to create effective, scalable learning experiences.
    • Translate complex construction, operational, and people skills topics into clear, practical learning solutions.
    • Partner and build relationships with subject matter experts and L&D team members across the division to identify learning needs and craft new content, materials, curricula and/or learning programs.
    • Extract, synthesize, and convert SME knowledge into structured learning content that can be deployed in person, virtually, or on-demand across the organization. In addition to the development of learning content for instructors, create impactful course objectives/outlines and participant and facilitator guides.
    • Manage logistics and timelines for defined learning projects, partnering cross-functionally across the organization.
    • Collaborate with L&D department and other stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and learner experience.
    • Write communications, plans, and other internal content related to learning programs and experiences.
    • Utilize our LMS to enhance employee learning experiences and skills development.
    • Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of existing learning offerings and content to ensure learning effectiveness.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and incorporate them into training strategies.
    • Support evaluation, measurement, and reporting of learning effectiveness
    • When needed, perform necessary preparation activities to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of courses, i.e.  printing, classroom set-up, A/V, pre-work and post work communication.
    • Opportunity for course facilitation as needed by the organization.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in instructional design, content development, and project management to deliver effective learning experiences.
  • Knowledgeable in adult learning theories and instructional design.
  • Experience designing and developing blended learning solutions (ILT, virtual, eLearning).
  • Proven experience developing and delivering curriculum and learning content from scratch and partnering with subject matter experts to do the same. Including both technical skills and people skills development courses and materials.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines across concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with learning technologies, virtual learning platforms, and eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Camtasia or other video creation tools).
  • Proven experience developing engaging eLearning courses.
  • Visual design and content creation skills (PowerPoint, video, job aids).
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills to work with a variety of partners across the organization
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas concisely, clearly, and effectively.

The salary range for this position is $81,680 - $102,100 based on experience and qualifications. In addition to a base salary, XLI offers a performance-based bonus, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.
