Program ManagerAt New Start SLS, we believe that individuals thrive when they make their own choices about where they live, work, and how they spend their time and resources. Supportive Living Services is a program designed to provide in-home and community-based assistance to adults with developmental disabilities who live in their own homes and want to make their own choices. By taking control of the choices that control their lives, people with developmental disabilities can better direct their own futures. Through patience, guidance, encouragement and Person-Centered Planning, we support the individuals we serve to develop the confidence and skills they need to make meaningful choices, reach self-set goals, as well as experience fulfillment and greater independence.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Under the supervision of the Company Director, the Program Manager is in charge of supervising Life Skills Coach (DSP) and other staff in their region, providing support and training to staff and adults with developmental disabilities, and oversees care for up to 10 individuals with support from Supervisors and House Leads.
This full-time role is a mix of Community, In-home and Admin/Office based work (mix of remote and from our Auburn Office). Approximately 50% of the role involves in-person direct client care across multiple locations, including Fair Oaks, Shingle Springs, and Placerville. One or two weekend days may be required each week. Schedules vary based on the needs of individuals supported.
In this position, a few examples of the Life Skills Coach (DSP) type of work you will be doing and helping staff to do, may include assisting individuals with: learning daily skills and activities, menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting, cleaning, using public transportation, making and attending appointments, volunteering, and participating in social leisure activities.
Other duties in this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform all of the duties of Life Skills Coach Staff.
  • Provide in-home and community based assistance to individuals according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
  • Some of the individuals we support use electric or manual wheelchairs, receive assistance with adaptive equipment for transfer, and may require personal care assistance (ex: toileting, bathing, brushing teeth, wound assistance). Staff working this position must be able to provide intimate care and use assistive equipment, as well as have the ability to train others.
  • Staff will be sensitive to the ethnic, lifestyle, and cultural diversity of our consumers and their circle of support. Staff will encourage, and help achieve consumer success.
  • Documenting of daily charting notes and adhere to Medication Administration processes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond with a sense of urgency.
  • Covering Open Shifts in your region.
  • Coordinating Medication and Medical Appointments for Houses in conjunction with House Leads.
  • Reporting significant house incidents to the Program Director. Prepare Special Incident Reports as needed.
  • Monthly Reports for each client to the Regional Center with support from the documentation specialist.
  • Quality Assurance Reports with each client weekly.
  • Quarterly and Annual Reports for each client.
  • Attendance of all Regional Center Meetings.
  • Regularly covering the on-call manager phone line as scheduled.
  • Completion of special and assigned monthly trainings.
  • Special Projects as assigned.
  • Staff Management Duties: In this role, managers must demonstrate the willingness and ability to direct, organize, and evaluate staff work and performance. Managers train and provide ongoing feedback to staff, Assist with new employee training, Scheduling and facilitating of required staff trainings, Auditing and Collecting of staff charting notes and reports, Conduct employee performance reviews and feedback, Supervise staff's direct care services provided, Assist with hiring and scheduling.
  • Pay Rate: $2425.00 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS + PRE-REQUISITES:
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a punctual and reliable work ethic with a positive attitude, empathy and the ability to support others.
  • Complete and Maintain a Satisfactory LiveScan Background Check.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Must have an Associates Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Provide evidence of a Negative TB Test and a Clear Physical from within the last year.
  • Provide proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification from an in-person or hybrid based course.
  • Must have the ability to pass drug screen at hire and random screens on demand.
  • Must have at least 2 years experience working with Regional Center Consumer Groups. Must also have at least 1 year of Management experience.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft platforms including outlook, word, excel. Or the ability to quickly learn and use sufficiently and independently. Experience with Therap and Homebase is a bonus.
  • Preferred: Have and maintain IHSS El Dorado County Certification.
