The Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing major business programs within the Microbiology Business Unit. This role oversees the entire product development lifecycle-from initial business case development through transfer to sustaining operations. Acting as the Core Team Leader, the Program Manager drives cross-functional collaboration and ensures successful delivery of programs from both business and technical perspectives.
This position reports to the Director, Program Management is part of the Research and Development team located in West Sacramento, CA and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead and manage programs through Core Team members and their extended teams.
  • Direct Core Team activities, resolve escalated issues, and ensure alignment across functions.
  • Ensure extended teams are staffed with qualified resources to meet program objectives.
  • Serve as the primary communication point for the project with Product Planning Group and functional leadership.
  • Identify risks and implement countermeasures when project metrics deviate from targets.

The essential requirements of the job include
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Medical Device Business Management, or related field with preference for 9+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with preference for 7+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience in program management leading multi-disciplinary projects in FDA-regulated environment.
  • Strong aptitude for learning and applying the Danaher Business System (DBS) tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and manage in a matrix organization.
  • Deep understanding of product development functions and ability to foster cross-functional partnerships.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10-20%).

The annual base salary range is $125,000- $140,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
