Job description

We are currently hiring a Manager, Learning and Development in Cincinnati, OH.

The Manager, Learning and Development will function as a strategic partner to business leaders and leverage insights to implement and inspire learning programs that improve and enhance workforce capability building in a fast-paced environment. This role will focus on developing and coordinating required training across the site, assist with developing material and delivering content in meaningful ways to ensure we properly and consistently train our co-workers. This role will also support our vision of a total learning environment without any production losses caused by lack of skill or poor training systems.

Supported departments will include Brewing, Distilling, Planning, QA, Maintenance & Utilities, Packaging, and Warehouse.

This person will bring a passion for learning, the ability to influence and communicate effectively within the Brewery and across all departments. This individual must have a bias for action, be hands on and present on the production floor, and flexible to support the team as needed across all shifts. They will be fluent in current learning programs, technology tools and possess strong project management skills while ensuring diversity, inclusion, and Boston Beer Company culture and values are ingrained in all learning programs.

Our ideal candidate will be able to partner and collaborate effectively across our People and Culture team as well as with business groups and external partners to create, inspire and deliver learning programs and content.

What You'll Brew: 

  • Build Strong, Collaborative working relationships with business leaders, coworkers, HR, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide L&D leadership and guidance to Site and Frontline Leadership Teams
  • Lead the Site L&D Pillar - A cross functional team who will be responsible for developing the Six Standard Work Processes (SWP's) consistent with UP Principles
    • Skill Needs Assessment & Prioritization
    • Training Plan Development & Management
    • Training, Curriculum, and Trainer Development
    • Training Delivery Method and Strategy
    • Training Facilities & Materials Management
    • Skill Qualification Process
  • Acts as a strategic learning partner to proactively assess and address L&D needs and/or concerns to develop long-term action plans
  • Conduct Skill Needs Assessments, with Operations Support, to determine aid with developing site training plans based on business results, skill needs, and prioritization
  • Partner with Site Leadership and Functional leaders to develop training plans and help prioritize and align on new training request
  • Coordinate / Execute all scheduled trainings within the brewery
  • Coordinate / Execute New Hire Orientation for all brewery coworkers
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and scorecard metrics based on UP Phase progression
  • Create / Implement Standards for comprehensive role or equipment-based curriculums, exposure opportunities, learning experiences, and career progression for key roles
  • Function as a change agent and help other coworkers develop their own change capabilities consistent with UP Principles
  • Champion the delivery of L&D programs through coordination, facilitation, SME/Trainer development, LMS, and other delivery methods, including new technologies, as identified
  • Ensure L&D Programs are sustainable through continuous reinforcement and ongoing accountability
  • Review overall evaluation of SWP's and metrics as defined and provide reporting summaries to Site Leadership Team & L&D Leadership. Conduct and include lessons learned summary as well

  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining of engaged & high-performing coworkers.
  • Ensures that direct reports are provided with clear expectations & direction and are empowered and held accountable to achieve their goals and perform their jobs.
  • Builds a collaborative & results-oriented team by resolving conflicts as they arise, removing roadblocks, inspiring people to action, and helping the team to decide to change and/or make changes.
  • Provides regular and meaningful feedback to coworkers through development, coaching, and comprehensive performance reviews that focuses on learning, growth and continuous improvement.

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree 
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with a focus on training. 
  • Experience creating and delivering development programs and courses in multiple modalities, including high-touch, face-to-face and live-online using a variety of learning programs and technologies.
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to develop work plans, set milestones, drive execution, manage subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to ensure successful integration and adoption.
  • Intermediate to expert level experience working with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and LMS systems.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Engineering
  • Experience in the Learning and Development space with a focus on training
  • Total Productive Maintenance and Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt/Black Belt training strongly preferred
  • Experience working with Learning Management System (LMS)
     

Level: 5M

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $102,000 and $163,000. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
