As an Administrative Assistant with Macon-Bibb County Environmental Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well-being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, a great schedule, and a healthy work-life balance, allowing you to grow your career while maintaining time for what matters most to you.

The Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of clerical and administrative support functions, which include serving as the primary point of contact for the public for inquiries by phone and in-person, data entry, record maintenance, document preparation and assisting with billing functions.

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for the public when calling or entering the office
  • Provides general clerical support including data entry/maintenance, copying, faxing documents
  • Generates bulk billing for annual fees in regulated program areas
  • Collects and enters accurate information for facilities and complaints
  • Provides clerical support and excellent customer service to clients
  • Receives and directs telephone calls and faxes accordingly
  • Participates in all required training
  • Helps with emergency preparedness response during declared emergencies
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of job-related experience.

  • Proficient in the core applications of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience using the Digital Health Department (DHD) platform

A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
