JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Practice Development Manager, the Practice Development Assistant performs a wide range of administrative, reporting, and coordination duties to support the firm's 300-attorney Litigation & Trial Practice Group. This is an attorney-facing role requiring professionalism, responsiveness, and a strong sense of ownership.
The Assistant will help ensure seamless preparation and execution of practice-wide meetings, maintain group rosters and organization charts, support reporting cycles, coordinate materials, and provide TOP ECHELON service while interacting frequently with partners, associates, and business professionals across the firm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assist with logistical and administrative support for practice-wide meetings, including agenda creation, scheduling conference rooms, materials preparation, and presentation coordination.
  • Provide extensive and detailed scheduling support for Practice Group Leaders and Practice Development Manager.
  • Support run-of-show management and ensure materials (slides, reports, stats) are finalized; maintain strict version control and central repositories to avoid duplication.
  • Update internal trackers, dashboards, and documentation to support knowledge management, maintain organized document repositories.
  • Work with the firm's finance team to review and assess financial metrics and prepare trend reports.
  • Provide project management support and track KPIs.
  • Assist with attorney-facing communications (drafting summaries, compiling updates, formatting practice notices).
  • Provide general administrative support to Practice Development Manager and other Marketing & BD Executive Staff as needed.

SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCESSFUL
  • Excellent attention to detail, grammar, formatting, and professional communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with attorneys and colleagues across multiple offices.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interest in learning practice management and business development concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, document management systems, and relational databases a plus (e.g., iManage, Foundation, Aderant).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Required: Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, human resources, business administration, communications, economics or other business-oriented degree.

  • Preferred: Prior experience in professional services, law firm practice management, or business development support.
