Job description

Are you passionate about developing technicians into elite performers? Do you thrive at the intersection of hands-on technical expertise and structured learning design?

We’re looking for a Training Curriculum Content Developer to architect and elevate a world-class technical training program for HVACR professionals.

This is not a maintenance role — this is a build, evolve, and scale opportunity.  You will design the roadmap and create the content — lesson plans, hands-on exercises, assessments, and materials — while facilitating training sessions when needed.  Today, this is a high-impact team-of-one role. Tomorrow, it has the potential to grow into a small, dedicated training team under your leadership.  30% travel is required.

Fieldpiece is a thriving team of innovators - committed to pushing boundaries and celebrating curiosity.  We’ve been providing HVACR professionals with rugged, feature-rich tools like meters, manifolds, leak detectors, and more since 1990.  Fieldpiece leads the industry in the way we think, work, collaborate, and remain laser-focused on creating products that empower HVACR professionals – today and tomorrow.  If you thrive in an environment where challenges are embraced, ambiguity fuels innovation, and relationships are built on trust and transparency—this is your opportunity.

Recognized as one of Southern California’s Best Places to Work (2023, 2024 & 2025), we provide a Hire-to-Retire philosophy, hybrid schedule, and a culture of curiosity – a place where you’ll have the support to innovate boldly, grow continuously, and make a tangible impact on an industry that powers everyday life.

Based in Orange, CA today—with an exciting move to a brand-new Tustin office in mid-2027.

What You’ll Build and Lead:

  • A structured, scalable technical training roadmap with sequential learning tracks that accelerate technicians from junior to senior performance levels
  • Practical, real-world curriculum that bridges trade-school gaps and is aligned to real-world HVACR field performance
  • Measurable competency-based learning outcomes with progression paths and prerequisites across product and application categories
  • Certification programs and potential revenue-generating training pathways with FP University and other LMS systems
  • Engaging, consistent training standards across live, virtual, mobile, and on-demand platforms
  • Partnerships with contractors, distributors, ambassadors, and subject-matter experts to ensure relevance
  • Training infrastructure and onboarding support at our new Tustin facility
  • 5+ years building technical training programs or curriculum
  • Hands-on HVACR expertise (technician or trainer background preferred)
  • Proven ability to create structured learning tracks and certifications from scratch
  • Strong instructional design and LMS experience (live + virtual environments)
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into practical, hands-on learning
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-evolving environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • EPA 608 Certification

At Fieldpiece, we believe great work deserves great rewards. We offer:

  • Matching 401k up to 4% with immediate vesting.
  • Excellent medical benefits including an HSA plan and monthly HSA contributions.
  • Supplemental Term Life, Employee Assistance Programs (EAD), Disability, and more.
  • Hire to Retire philosophy that includes personal career development plans.
  • Onsite music program with lessons from guitar, piano and voice coaches.
  • And more!

Our values drive everything we do and our culture.

We are a TRIBE.

  • Our collective growth starts with individual growth.
  • We are fully engaged and empowered, collaborating to achieve our common mission.
  • Our people are central in making Fieldpiece the best place we will work, ever.

 We do the UPFRONT HOMEWORK.

  • We are prepared before coming together to move forward effectively.
  • We begin with the end in mind by understanding The Why upfront, visualizing, researching, and acting.
  • We address obstacles head-on with creativity, grit and tenacity, while having fun along the way.

 We deliver the RIGHT STUFF.

  • We deliver innovative solutions by seeing the world through the eyes of our customers.
  • Our culture of purposeful critical thinking leads to greatness now, rather than perfection never.

 We earn TRUST.

  • We prove our credibility, reliability, and genuine interest in others to build lasting relationships.
  • Our tribe, partners, end users, suppliers and channel partners can rely on us to listen, act with integrity, and deliver quality.

 We are LEAN.

  • We never stop searching for a better way.
  • We get started, fail fast, and move forward.
  • Our actions deliver valuable results.
