Such experiences are particularly important for students who have not found success on the traditional path of text-based classroom education.



Volunteer PositionDescription

  • Maintain a positive attitude and assist in ensuring the classroom environment is conducive to student learning.
  • Assist administration in specialized areas of expertise.
  • Provide main office assistance by answering phones, filing (non-confidential), classroom deliveries, and answering questions.
  • Assist teachers as classroom helpers with the preparation of classroom materials,
  • tutoring ofindividual students
  • cleaning classrooms,
  • facilitating celebrations
  • reading to and with individual students and groups of students
  • creating and putting up bulletin boards
  • facilitation of classroom projects, and applying appropriate conflict management skills with students.
  • Performs other voluntary jobs as identified by the after-school program.

Volunteer - As a volunteer, I do not receive any form of payment or compensation such

as money, free or reduced child care, or any other type of compensation for my time. I also understand that as a volunteer, I must be under the constant supervision of a trained and screened staff person and may not be left alone or in charge of any group of children. If I volunteer 10 hours or more per month or receive some form of compensation, I understand that I must submit background screening information under section 402.302(3), Florida Statutes, and complete the state-mandated training requirements.
