Job description

Position Summary
  • This position is a part-time (20-28 hours per week) or full-time (35-40 hours per week), hourly, non-exempt position.
  • Salary: $21.00 - $24.00, per hour - see below for additional salary & benefits offered for this position
  • This position requires 100% onsite work at 3181 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the U.S., and have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for brief and short distances.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a Kitchen Team Member, you will join the team that is the hidden secret behind the Chick-fil-A brand. Our Kitchen team works together to serve thousands of guests every day with excellence and care. You will have an opportunity to learn each role within our kitchen: from filleting and breading chicken, preparing fresh produce, packaging our made-to-order products, or baking some of our delicious cookies. All while upholding the highest standards in food safety and cleanliness. Ultimately as a kitchen team member, you will maintain a laser focus on the food and create a remarkable experience for every guest every time with safe, delicious food.

As a Kitchen Team Member you will be responsible for:
  • Food prep, cooking, and assembly of produce, raw, hot and cold breakfast, lunch, and dinner products, catering orders, and box meals
  • Maintaining a sparkling clean Kitchen and Back of House
  • Receiving truck and maintaining inventory organization
  • Following LEAN processes and procedures for quality and inventory control
  • Performing food safety and quality practices and measures including the SAFE Daily Critical and daily eRQA
  • Collaborating with team members and fulfilling our mission: Excellence every day & Care for everyone
  • Achieving annual and 90-Day Performance Goals
Qualifications and Skills
  • A qualified candidate must be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A qualified candidate must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for brief and short distances.
  • For part-time positions: consistent weekly availability between Monday-Saturday is preferred and the ability to work at least 20 hours per week is expected for applicants wishing to be considered for part time status.
  • For full-time positions: open availability between Monday-Saturday and the ability to work at least 35 hours per week is expected for applicants wishing to be considered for full time status.
  • Previous work experience is not required, but it is preferred. You will receive on the job training and development throughout your career with Chick-fil-A Harbor Blvd.

Kitchen Team Member positions will be expected to regularly work four hour, six hour, or eight hour shifts, at various times within the various day parts of: morning (5:30am-2pm), afternoon (11am-7:30pm), or evening (3:30pm-12am), depending on the needs of the business and store performance goals.

A prime candidate will have availability during two, three, or all of these day part times on a regular daily basis and will also have open weekend availability between Thursday - Saturday.

As a Kitchen Team Member you will need to focus on the following areas in your daily performance:1. Provide Remarkable Service
  • Effectively prep, cook, and assemble orders
  • Follow standards for proper presentation of orders
  • Ensure accuracy of orders
  • Communicate effectively with the Front of House team about wait times and when to park cars
  • Know when and how to prioritize orders based on the needs of the order pipeline
  • Proper food quality and monitoring
  • Uphold organizational standards
  • Monitor and prevent waste by following proper LEAN procedures
2. Maintain a Sparkling Clean and Safe Environment
  • Ensure clean and sanitized food contact surfaces before and after preparing food and at least every 4 hours for ongoing tasks
  • Ensure a clean and inviting kitchen environment including walls, floors, floorboards, ceiling, hood vents and equipment
  • Always be prepared for Internal or Health Department visits by following required food quality and safety process and procedures at all times
  • Consistently follow all food safety procedures and standards
3. Chick-fil-A Brand & Product Knowledge
  • Correctly prep, cook, and assemble all menu products per Chick-fil-A standards
  • Properly and safely use, clean, and maintain all equipment related to the kitchen and back of house
4. Proficiency in Assigned Kitchen Stations
  • Stay current on training updates and new product rollouts for assigned stations
  • Kitchen Stations:
