Job description

Lanai Air is a critical component to the delivery of "high quality-high touch" consistent service experience to every guest traveling. ย Lanai Air is responsible for providing a seamless "point to point" delivery between the Hawaiian Islands.

The Ramp Service Agent is responsible for overall cleanliness of the aircraft, vehicles, and ground equipment used in the operation. ย This position will also be responsible for aircraft arrival / departure handling, cargo & baggage acceptance, loading and offloading, and guest transportation. ย This position will also participate in the ground service during the arrival & departure process as guests transition through the interisland airports.. Safety of the guest and assets are of utmost importance and the Ramp Service Agent is responsible to ensure that this is adhered to. ย The team will interact with the logistics coordinators & Western Aircraft crew & maintenance team. ย Communication is key to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

Compensation:

$22.22/hour (non-exempt)

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to: ย  ย  Ramp Operations Manager (Honolulu), Assistant Guest Service Manager (neighbor islands)

Coordinates with: ย Lanai Air Guest Service Agents & System Operation and Reservation Coordinators, Western Aircraft crew and maintenance team.

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED, preferred.

  • Previous airline experience, preferred.ย 

  • Physical labor experience and/or working in a warehouse environment.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Requires the highest level of professionalism and hospitality when interacting with Lana'i Air guest.

  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Must be able to obtain and retain Airport Operational Area (AOA) badging and ramp license from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.

  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.

  • Must complete all company's required initial and recurrent training successfully.
  • Must be able to obtain certification to operate forklift trucks for the purpose of loading and unloading freight.ย 

Physical Requirements:

  • The Ramp Service Agent position is a very physical position, working outside in the elements.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.ย  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.ย  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.ย  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.ย  The employee is occasionally required to operate objects, tools, or controls.

Essential Duties (Aircraft/Vehicle Detailing):

  1. Cleans and washes the interior and exterior of aircraft, vehicles, and equipment.

  2. Washes windows and cleans the tires of aircraft, vehicles, and equipment.

  3. Polishes the exterior of aircraft, vehicles, and equipment.

  4. Vacuums interior upholstery.

  5. Dusts and polishes wood work.

  6. Cleans dust and dirt out of controls in cockpit.

  7. Cleans the hangar facility, including floor and walls, on a regular basis.

  8. Reports any discrepancies to Supervisor.

  9. Continually keeps work areas clean and organized.

  10. Utilizes support equipment in a safe manner to accomplish work tasks.

Essential Duties (Ground Service and Transportation):

  1. Position (tow) aircraft as required to meet daily flight operations and maintenance requirements
  2. Provide aircraft marshaling as required utilizing hand signals to safely maneuver aircraft into and out of parking
  3. Baggage and cargo handling, loading / offloading, and servicing of all inbound and outbound aircraft in accordance with prescribed procedures
  4. Assist with transporting guests in a vehicle or golf cart between airport, lounge and / or aircraft
  5. Assist with transporting cargo in a vehicle or Ground Support Equipment between distributor, loading/unloading zones and / or aircraft.
  6. Operates company vehicles, radios, and equipment in a safe, efficient manner
  7. Ensures that vehicles are fueled properly
  8. FOD (Foreign Object Debris) inspections
  9. Performs other duties as assigned
