Job description

Lanai Air is a critical component to the delivery of "high quality-high touch" consistent service experience to every guest traveling.  Lanai Air is responsible for providing a seamless "point to point" delivery between the Hawaiian Islands.

The Lead Ramp Service Agent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all ground service handling ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations & standards of Lanai Air.  The Safety of our  guests and assets are of utmost importance.  It will be the responsibility of the Lead Ramp Service Agent to ensure established procedures & safety precautions are consistently practiced in all Ramp Service functions.

The Lead Ramp Service Agent will coordinate with the Lanai Air Ramp Operations Manager, System Operation & Reservation Coordinators, and Guest Service Agents, along with the Western Aircraft crew & maintenance team members on a regular basis.  Communication is key to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

Compensation:

$26.37/hour (non-exempt)

Reports to:                   Ramp Operations Manager & Assistant Guest Service Manager (neighbor islands)

Supervises:                   Ramp Service Agents

Coordinates with:        Lana'i Air Guest Service staff & System Operation and Reservation Coordinators, Western Aircraft maintenance staff.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Previous airline experience with 3-5 years of demonstrated airport/airline supervision experience with knowledge of ramp operations, preferred.
  • Requires the highest level of professionalism and hospitality when interacting with Lana'i Air guest.
  • Requires verbal communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Requires good judgement and a common sense approach to the work
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and are willing to lend a helping hand
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under conditions that are changing on a moment's notice.
  • Requires an ability to take responsibility and be accountable
  • Must be skilled in multi-tasking.  The work load is constant and must be handled in a timely manner.  Responsible to handle a variety of tasks at the same time.

Required Work Cards/Certifications:
  • Must be able to obtain and retain Airport Operational Area (AOA) badging and ramp license from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.

  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.

  • Must complete all company's required initial and recurrent training successfully.
  • Must be able to obtain certification to operate forklift trucks for the purpose of loading and unloading freight. 
     

Physical Requirements:

  • The Lead Ramp Service Agent position is a very physical position, working outside in the elements. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision. The employee is occasionally required to operate objects, tools, or controls.

Essential Duties

  1. Daily supervision of the Ramp Service Agents
  2. Ensure all aircraft arrival/departure handling, cargo and baggage acceptance, loading/unloading, baggage transfer, and guests transportation are conducted in accordance with Lana'i Air standards, policies and procedures, and any applicable regulations.
  3. Maintain safe, consistent and dependable working conditions 
  4. Supervise all Ramp Service Agents to follow established ramp safety standards and standard operating procedures while working on the ramp area and while supporting all forms of ground service equipment and vehicles.
  5. Ensure all facility and ground support equipment is in satisfactory operating conditions
  6. Verify that the overall cleanliness of aircraft, vehicles, and ground support equipment is completed to standards and on schedule. 
  7. Assign tasking to Ramp Service Agents to ensure adequate operational coverage, efficient use of resources, and adjust as operational conditions change.
  8. Ensure asset tracking software is updated for assignment and completion of tasks and preventative maintenance. 
  9. Provide daily reporting on aircraft and vehicle detailing status 
  10. Ensure all ground service equipment (GSE) and vehicles, are being operated and driven in a correct and safe manner
  11. Verify that all daily checks are being performed in regards to GSE maintenance
  12. Verify that all Ramp Service Agents are supplied with and using PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) while working
  13. Communicates with Ramp Operations Manager concerning any operational problems, issues or ground support equipment maintenance. 
  14. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
