What is a lead production designer?

Lead Production Designers are responsible for overseeing the overall visual look and feel of film, television, theater, or commercial productions. They collaborate closely with directors and producers to create and implement the design vision, which includes sets, locations, graphics, props, lighting, and costumes. Their role involves managing a team of designers and artists, ensuring that all visual elements align with the project's creative direction, budget, and schedule. Lead Production Designers play a key role in making sure the final product visually supports the story and enhances the audience's experience.

How does a lead production designer typically collaborate with other departments during a project?

A Lead Production Designer works closely with directors, producers, art directors, and construction teams to bring visual concepts to life. They frequently attend meetings with key stakeholders to align the design vision with the overall project goals and ensure that sets, props, and visual elements are feasible within budget and timeline constraints. Job description

Alt is unlocking the value of alternative assets, starting with the $5 B trading-card market. We let collectors buy, sell, vault, and finance their cards in one place and we are backed by leaders at Stripe, Coinbase, Seven Seven Six, and pro athletes like Tom Brady and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Our next frontier is real-time pricing at scale—the Alt Value that powers every trade, loan, and product on the platform.

Lead Product Designer — Marketplace

Alt is unlocking the value of alternative assets, starting with the $5B trading-card market. Collectors use Alt to buy, sell, vault, and finance their cards in one place. We're backed by leaders from Stripe, Coinbase, Seven Seven Six, and pro athletes like Tom Brady and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Our next frontier is real-time pricing at scale, the Alt Value powering every trade, loan, and product on the platform.

What We're Looking For:

As a Lead Product Designer at Alt, you will shape the core platform and create seamless, delightful experiences for people researching, managing, insuring, and leveraging their alternative-asset portfolios. As one of the early members of the Design team, you'll have outsized influence on the product, brand, culture, and trajectory of the company.

The Impact You'll Make:
  • Drive user-centric thinking: Bring a high-craft, systems-oriented approach to problem-solving, experimentation, and raising the bar for simplicity, clarity, and usefulness across the company.
  • Navigate ambiguity: Break down open-ended problems, ruthlessly prioritize for impact, and align cross-functional teams around the path forward.
  • Operate across altitudes: Work on loosely defined concepts as well as tightly scoped, tactical deliverables with equal skill.
  • Turn insight into action: Conduct research, synthesize findings, and translate them into clear design directions. Dive into data, run experiments, and uncover the "what, why, and how" behind user behavior so we deliver outcomes, not just features.
  • Elevate the craft: Lead and participate in design reviews, provide clear and actionable feedback, and contribute to a culture of high standards by showing through doing.
  • Champion AI-first design: Design for and with LLMs, automation, and context-aware systems. Translate emerging capabilities into intuitive, delightful product experiences and help ensure Alt's offering stays meaningfully ahead of competitors.
  • Collaborate deeply: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and other stakeholders to understand constraints, align on requirements, and deliver thoughtful, creative solutions.
  • Grow the Design System: Spend ~20% of your time evolving and maintaining the Alt Design System, and 80% designing core features across the product.
What You Bring:
  • 8+ years of product design experience
  • 5+ years of experience at a senior or higher role
  • Deep expertise across UI, interaction, visual design, and content—with a strong track record of shipping high-quality work in fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Product and Engineering, and to clearly articulate complex design decisions to diverse audiences
  • Mastery of Figma, animation, UX research methods, prototyping, and running/participating in design reviews
  • Experience designing AI-powered tools, agent interfaces, or prototyping workflows; comfort using AI tools daily and designing with an AI-first mindset
  • Portfolio showcasing strong design craft, process depth, and strategic thinking
  • High curiosity, a growth mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-moving, high-ambiguity environment
  • Background in early-stage, design-centric, or deep-tech startups
  • Nice-to-have: Marketplace/fintech background, personal collecting/investing/ experience
  • We value candidates that bring a range of experience from different industries and a variety of creative influences. If you're a alternative asset investor or collector yourself and can bring first-hand experience and empathy for the hobby, tell us your story!
What You'll Get From Us:
  • A seat at the table to help shape the future of Alt and the alternative asset space
  • Autonomy and ownership on projects that matter
  • $100/month work-from-home stipend
  • $200/month wellness stipend
  • WeWork office stipend
  • 401(k) retirement benefits
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Competitive healthcare benefits, including HSA, for you and your dependent(s)
Compensation: $175,000
