What is a lead producer?

Lead Producers are professionals who oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of projects, particularly in industries like film, television, video games, or live events. Their responsibilities include managing budgets, schedules, and teams, ensuring that creative and technical aspects align with project goals. Lead Producers act as the main point of contact between stakeholders and team members, resolving issues and making key decisions to keep the project on track. They play a critical role in delivering a successful final product on time and within budget.

What are the primary challenges a lead producer faces when managing cross-functional teams on large projects?

A Lead Producer often oversees teams with diverse skill sets, including designers, engineers, and artists, which can lead to challenges in communication, aligning goals, and maintaining project timelines. Balancing creative vision with practical limitations, resource allocation, and stakeholder expectations is crucial. Effective Lead Producers foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and adapt plans to ensure milestones are met without compromising quality, making strong leadership and organizational skills essential for success in this role.

Job description

ABOUT AIRRACK

Airrack is a tight-knit team that pulls off ambitious, innovative YouTube videos that get millions of views. We're creative, gritty, and passionate about making content no one else dares to. If you're looking for traditional media, this isn't it. We work hard, have a great time doing it, and we're always pushing to see how far digital storytelling can go!

THE ROLE

We're looking for an experienced producer who's excited by the challenge of making ambitious YouTube videos at pace. You'll work closely with creative to take a concept and figure out exactly how it gets made, work with legal when needed, oversee the AP and JP across all productions, and be the person who makes sure nothing gets dropped and everything is moving. You outline how a video will actually look and feel on the channel, you solve the problems that come up along the way, and you own the result.
HOW TO APPLY

Watch this video to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Ju7nmlHSY

Requirements

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the full production from concept handoff through shoot day and wrap
  • Work with creative to flesh out concepts, research what they require, and outline practically how a video will look and feel, pitching alternatives when needed
  • Work with legal as needed to research and clear anything the production requires
  • Lead all outbound coordination: locations, talent, experts, permits, props, and anything else the concept requires
  • Build and manage production plans, call sheets, and shot lists
  • Oversee the AP and JP across all productions with clear deliverables and real follow-through
  • Make fast decisions on the ground when things shift and keep the production moving
  • Manage brand integrations and any external relationships tied to the video
  • Keep all departments informed throughout with clear, accurate updates

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3-5 years of experience as a producer, preferably in YouTube, digital content, or fast-paced unscripted production
  • You've run full productions independently and nothing got dropped. That's your track record.
  • Strong creative judgment and the operational discipline to back it up.
  • You don't wait to be told what to do. You figure it out.
  • Comfortable making high-stakes calls quickly with limited information.
  • Humble, collaborative, and genuinely great to work with.

BONUS POINTS

  • A solid network of production contacts across locations, crew, talent, and vendors.
  • Background or skills in directing, field producing, or creative producing.

Benefits

Salary: $145-$160k DOE with performance bonuses available. Full health benefits offered as well.

WHY JOIN US

  • Work with an awesome group of talented, passionate people who actually enjoy what they do.
  • Constantly push the limits of digital storytelling and do things that haven't been done before.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, plenty of travel, and tons of room to grow creatively and professionally.
