Overview
We are seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise operating system environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. This role is responsible for the design, administration, automation, and lifecycle management of Linux and VMware infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads across multiple data centers and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) solutions across physical and VMware environments.
  • Manage provisioning and lifecycle operations, including LUN/volume allocation, host mapping, masking, and expansion.
  • Manage and optimize advanced NAS platforms and file services using NFS (v3/v4) and autofs within Kerberos-enabled enterprise environments.
  • Monitor and optimize Linux system performance, availability, and capacity using modern toolsets like Prometheus and Grafana
  • Execute Business-As-Usual (BAU) changes in strict alignment with enterprise change, incident, and service management processes.
  • Support disaster recovery operations, including automated system replication, failover testing, and rapid incident response.
  • Perform RHEL updates, firmware upgrades, and maintenance via Red Hat Satellite in accordance with strict compliance and lifecycle standards.
  • Ensure strict compliance with security requirements, including OS hardening, SELinux configuration, vulnerability remediation, and audit support.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, system runbooks, and CMDB/inventory records.
  • Provide OS-level capacity planning, performance forecasting, and resource utilization reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with dedicated storage, virtualization (VMware), backup, and cloud teams.
  • Lead Linux operating system upgrades, server migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in the team on-call rotation and provide Tier-3 technical support for critical incidents.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of enterprise Linux administration (specifically RHEL) experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing and configuring RHEL workloads within VMware vSphere and cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of Linux networking, multipathing, NFS, autofs, and connecting Linux hosts to SAN/NAS backends.
  • Direct experience engineering and maintaining system configurations using Puppet and Ansible.
  • Strong proficiency in Shell scripting and Ansible to automate routine administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Operational experience working within ITIL frameworks (change management, incident management, ServiceNow).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across infrastructure silos

Preferred Qualifications
  • Red Hat Certifications: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
  • VMware Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience integrating or migrating on-premises Linux workloads with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Large-Scale Operations: Proven experience operating in large, highly regulated enterprise data center environments.
