Lead DevOps Engineer

Elucid

Boston, MA • On-site

$190K - $240K/yr

Full-time

Posted 9 days ago

Job description

We are a rapidly growing, Boston-based medical technology company using AI to help clinicians make more informed decisions on cardiovascular care - leading to better patient outcomes, improved quality of care, and reduced healthcare costs. Come work at Elucid and be part of delivering on our mission to prevent heart attacks and strokes!
The best engineers on a platform team don't just keep things running. They make the engineers around them better at it too.
At Elucid, the platform you build is what makes it possible to ship software that gives cardiologists a clearer picture of cardiovascular disease reliably, safely and at speed. We're looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer who has seen enough production systems, deployment failures and architectural tradeoffs to know what good looks like-and who gets as much satisfaction from helping a teammate understand why as from solving the problem themselves. This is a senior role with broad scope: you'll own CI/CD strategy, guide infrastructure decisions and be the person others on the team turn to when the hard problems show up. In a regulated medical device environment like ours, the stakes for getting this right are real.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 10+ years of DevOps/SRE/Platform engineering focused experience on AWS environments, with strong hands-on scripting in Python, Bash, Ruby, or similar.
  • A proven track record owning CI/CD strategy end-to-end (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar), making decisions about how software gets built, tested, and deployed across a multi-service environment.
  • Strong containerization and orchestration skills (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/Fargate etc.) and Linux/Ubuntu fundamentals.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform, etc.) and a drive to make environments reproducible and self-documenting.
  • Proven ability to serve as an informal technical leader: mentoring engineers, driving architectural decisions, and setting best practices across a team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and QA functions; equally comfortable whiteboarding with engineers and explaining tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment; healthcare or regulated-industry experience is a plus.
Work Location and Hours:
  • This role is based out of our office in Boston, MA. We operate in a hybrid model with regular in-office collaboration.
  • This role participates in on-call rotation that provides coverage on business days from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM. The rotation is shared among all team members and generally occurs for 2-3 weeks per quarter.
Salary Range:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position at Elucid is $190,000-$240,000. Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, relevant experience, certifications, and geography as outlined in the job description.

At Elucid, we believe the best work happens in a flexible hybrid environment. Boston-area employees are encouraged to work from the office on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the option to come in additional days if they prefer. Fully remote employees outside the Boston area come in as needed.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Elucid. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability.
We understand that self-doubt can sometimes prevent great candidates from applying. If you believe you can make an impact at Elucid, even if you don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply!
