Job description

DevOps Engineer (Hybrid)
About the role
As a DevOps Engineer, you will make an impact by driving the reliability, scalability, and security of our technology platforms through automation, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and cloud infrastructure management. You will be a valued member of the Engineering and Operations team, working collaboratively with software developers, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
In this role, you will:
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Manage and automate cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Monitor system performance, health, and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot production incidents while driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with security teams to integrate security controls and best practices into development and deployment pipelines.
  • Manage and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Perform platform upgrades, vulnerability remediation activities, and security compliance checks.
  • Improve application scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency through automation and process optimization.

Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring up to 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Louisville - KY.

What you need to have to be considered
  • 5+ Experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar cloud/infrastructure role.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tools.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security integration within deployment pipelines.

These will help you stand out
  • Experience implementing automated security scanning and compliance controls.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management and platform hardening best practices.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with GitOps methodologies and modern deployment strategies.
  • Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 68,422 to $ 114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
