Job description

Job Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) – Oncology
Facility: Providence Mission Hospital Mission Viejo
Address: 27700 Medical Center Rd, Mission Viejo, CA 92691
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8-Hour)
Pay Rate: $76/hr (W2) | $81/hr (1099) 

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to support oncology patients at the Mission Leonard Cancer Institute.
In this role, the LCSW will assess, plan, and provide appropriate interventions and support services for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide emotional support, individual counseling, and resource referrals to patients and caregivers
  • Coordinate care and collaborate with internal and external healthcare providers
  • Assist patients in navigating community and financial support resources (e.g., HMOs, housing charities, transportation, medication assistance)
  • Document patient interactions and responses according to hospital standards using Epic
  • Offer education and guidance regarding advance directives and patient rights
  • Monitor and respond to patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs, particularly related to oncology diagnoses

Required Qualifications:
  • Active LCSW license in California

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult protective services, hospice, ADA regulations, communication disorders, and major disease processes (e.g., cancer, immune deficiencies, neurological disorders, stroke)

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Case management and care coordination
  • Individual counseling and crisis intervention
  • Familiarity with outpatient clinic settings and physician office workflows
  • Knowledge of community resources for patient assistance and support
