About Us:
Northern Biogas is a developer of Dairy Manure to RNG and Landfill Gas to RNG projects throughout the United States. 
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Renewable Fuels Compliance and Biogas Tax Credit Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company's compliance with the EPA's Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program and CARB's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program, while also managing information requests related to biogas tax credits.
Responsibilities:
  • RFS and LCFS Compliance:
    • Manage and track all relevant data and documentation for RFS and LCFS reporting, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports to the EPA and CARB.
    • Develop an understanding of the EPA’s RIN program and CARB’s LCFS program and stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and implement them in our compliance practices.
    • Respond to inquiries and audits from regulatory agencies.
    • Gather and process data required for monthly revenue recognition process
    • Transfer generated credits as specified in commercial arrangements
    • Collaborate with accounting to prepare invoices/statements for commercial counterparties
  • Biogas Tax Credits:
    • Analyze and respond to information requests related to biogas tax credits.
    • Verify and document eligibility for claiming biogas tax credits.
    • Prepare and submit necessary forms and documentation for claiming credits.
    • Maintain accurate records of biogas production and tax credit claims.
  • General:
    • Collaborate with internal teams across departments (e.g., accounting, operations) to gather and share relevant information.
    • Research and analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable tasks.
    • Maintain proficiency in data management and reporting software.
    • Develop and implement internal processes to maintain compliance and improve efficiency.
    • Proactively identify and address potential compliance risks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental compliance or other experience demonstrating attention to detail and ability to process data.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the EPA's RFS and CARB's LCFS programs.
  • Experience with biogas production and biogas tax credit regulations a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
