We deliver secure, high-quality language solutions in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.
We are seeking Kirghiz (also known as Kyrgyz) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kirghiz, a Turkic language spoken in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia, is a rare but high-priority language often required in asylum, refugee, and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration and asylum contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, asylum, NGO, or government preferred).
  • Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
