What is a landscaping business?

A landscaping business provides services related to the design, installation, and maintenance of outdoor spaces such as gardens, lawns, and parks. These businesses work with both residential and commercial clients to improve the appearance and functionality of outdoor areas. Services may include planting trees and shrubs, lawn care, irrigation system installation, hardscaping (like patios and walkways), and regular maintenance. Landscaping businesses often help clients plan and execute projects that enhance property value and curb appeal.

What are the typical career advancement opportunities in a landscaping business?

Landscaping businesses often provide clear pathways for career growth, starting from entry-level positions like crew member or technician and advancing to roles such as crew leader, supervisor, or project manager. With experience and demonstrated leadership skills, employees may progress to specialized positions in design, irrigation, or account management. Many companies also encourage employees to pursue certifications or additional training, which can open doors to higher-level roles or even branch management. Advancement is typically based on a combination of hands-on experience, reliability, and a willingness to learn new techniques or technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the landscaping business, and why are they important?
