Job description

Small Engine Mechanic – Landscape Equipment

Location: Signal Hill CA
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us:
We are a family owned and operated landscape company specializing in commercial services. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Small Engine Mechanic to maintain and repair our equipment fleet. This role is essential to keeping our field teams running efficiently every day.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair small engines and power equipment, including:
    • Lawn mowers (push and ride-on)
    • Blowers
    • String trimmers
    • Hedge trimmers
    • Chainsaws and other 2-cycle/4-cycle equipment
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, spark plugs, carburetor cleaning, air filters, fuel system checks).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues.
  • Maintain organized records of repairs, parts used, and equipment condition.
  • Order parts and maintain inventory for frequently used components.
  • Ensure all equipment is safe, operational, and ready for field crews daily.
  • Keep the shop area clean, safe, and organized.
  • Assist with occasional repairs to trailers, small tools, and light equipment.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
  • Ability to diagnose issues quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs and work in a shop/yard environment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems is a plus.
  • Must Have Own Tools
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with landscaping equipment brands (Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, Honda, Toro, etc.).
  • Ability to weld or perform minor fabrication (a plus, not required).
