Job description

Position Summary

At Alex's Proscape, we pride ourselves on delivering top-tier hardscaping, landscaping, and snow management services to the local community. We are looking for a highly motivated and versatile professional to join our team, drive sales, and lead crews in the field.

The Hardscape Sales, Estimator & Foreman is responsible for the full lifecycle of hardscape projects—from lead generation and client consultation to job bidding, project execution, and final delivery. This role combines sales, estimating, and field leadership to ensure projects are sold profitably and installed efficiently to company standards. The work is in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment and includes a wide range of tasks including excavation, paver, flagstone, and concrete installation, and more at large and small jobs for commercial and residential clients. Winter tasks include machine operation for snow removal services.


1. Sales & Client Acquisition

  • Generate and manage leads through referrals, marketing, and networking
  • Conduct on-site consultations with residential and/or commercial clients
  • Understand client needs, budget, and project vision
  • Build relationships and deliver excellent customer service

2. Design & Job Bidding (Estimating)

  • Create conceptual designs (sketches or software-based)
  • Perform complete project takeoffs, including:
    • Pavers (sq ft)
    • Walls (block counts, geogrid)
    • Base materials (gravel, sand)
    • Drainage solutions
  • Develop accurate cost estimates, including:
    • Labor hours (based on production rates)
    • Materials
    • Equipment
    • Overhead + profit margins
  • Identify site challenges (grading, access, drainage)
  • Build and present detailed, professional proposals
  • Price jobs competitively and profitably

3. Closing & Project Handoff

  • Present and explain proposals clearly to clients
  • Handle objections and negotiate pricing when needed
  • Close sales and secure signed contracts
  • Set and manage realistic expectations for timeline and scope

4. Project Leadership & Execution (Foreman Duties)

  • Lead and supervise installation crews (2–6+ members)
  • Coordinate daily job-site operations and workflow
  • Perform and oversee:
    • Excavation and grading
    • Base prep and compaction
    • Installation of patios, walkways, walls, steps, and outdoor living features
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

5. Quality Control & Safety

  • Maintain strict quality standards for craftsmanship
  • Inspect work at each phase of installation
  • Work to improve efficiency, production rates, and profit margins
  • Enforce OSHA safety requirements and company policies
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment

6. Customer Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact from start to finish
  • Provide updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Handle concerns and ensure client satisfaction
  • Request reviews and referrals after project completion

7. Team Development

  • Train and mentor crew members
  • Maintain a productive, accountable team culture
  • Assist in hiring and crew development when needed

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of hardscape installation experience
  • 2–5+ years in sales and/or estimating preferred
  • 5+ years operating loaders, skid steers, excavators, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Paver / flagstone installations, retaining walls, drainage and grading
  • Ability to read site plans and create estimates
  • Ability to close sales
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and balance time spent between various job responsibilities
  • Strong leadership skills and crew management experience
