Job description

Job Title: Commercial Grounds Maintenance (CGM) Crew Leader

Position Overview: The CGM Crew Leader/Foreman is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for leading a year-round crew in the delivery of commercial landscape maintenance services. This role combines active field labor with planning, administrative, and regulatory functions. The Crew Leader ensures that properties are maintained to company standards while training staff, managing daily workloads, and maintaining positive client relationships on-site.


Key Responsibilities Included but Not Limited To:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Crew Management: Supervise and train maintenance crews on all aspects of landscape maintenance services.

  • Scheduling: Schedule and manage daily workloads to ensure efficiency.

  • Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and collect necessary equipment and job materials each day.

  • Safety: Attend and actively participate in crew and department general and safety meetings.

Field Operations & Maintenance

  • Execution: Perform mowing, raking, digging, and weeding of commercial landscapes.

  • Irrigation: Monitor and maintain irrigation controllers (changing times, replacing heads, etc.).

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate mowers (push, walk-behind, ride), tillers, aerators, slit seeders, and wheel tractors.

  • Power Tools: Utilize edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, backpack blowers, and sprayers.

  • Logistics: Load and unload heavy equipment and planting materials from trucks.

Administration & Client Relations

  • Reporting: Prepare timesheets and other daily paperwork as required by the company.

  • Client Service: Maintain on-site relations and professional communications with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

  • Transportation: Safely drive company-owned vehicles (with or without trailers) to transport crew members.


Requirements & Qualifications

Licensing & Certifications

  • Driver’s License: Must have a valid NC Driver's license and maintain a good driving record (CDL preferred).

  • Pesticide License: Must be willing to obtain the NC Pesticide Applicator’s License.

  • Background: Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.

  • Ability to bend and stoop continually and work outside in all weather conditions.

  • Comfort working around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks.
