Job description

Benefits:
  • Employee discounts

Company: Bluebonnet Landscaping and Lawn Care, Inc.
Location: Magnolia / The Woodlands, TX
Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour (Based on experience, autonomy, and skill level)
Job Type: Full-time
About the Role
For 30+ years, Bluebonnet Landscaping has built a reputation in The Woodlands for high-quality craftsmanship. We are looking for an experienced Landscape Crew Lead who takes deep pride in their work and knows how to execute a project the right way, the first time.
We do not believe in taking shortcuts. We are looking for a tradesman who understands that a poorly graded bed or a botched install costs time, money, and reputation. Your job is to lead a crew to execute pre-bid designs, manage the job site, and ensure the final product reflects our standards.
Compensation Strategy
We pay a highly competitive, predictable hourly wage rather than relying on moving-target bonuses. Your starting pay is based on your level of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Execution: Lead both softscape (planting beds, sod, mulch, seasonal color) and hardscape (pavers, French drains) installations.
  • Irrigation Repair: Perform basic irrigation repairs (swapping heads, repairing lateral lines, adjusting zones) as a strict requirement. Advanced troubleshooting skills are highly desired and command top pay.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate walk-behind and handheld equipment safely and effectively (rototillers, demo hammers, aerators). Note: We do not use ride-on heavy machinery for landscape installs.
  • Fleet & Facility Ownership: A true craftsman respects their tools. You are responsible for ensuring the truck is cleaned out, trash is removed, and tools are accounted for at the end of every day. We do not drop dirty trucks at the shop for someone else to clean.
  • Team-First Flexibility: Landscape schedules can be volatile. If your install wraps up early, you may be asked to help lead or assist a mowing route. The Goal: We all pitch in so the entire team can get off the hot pavement and get home to their families earlier.
  • Schedule: Ability to work Monday Friday, typically 6:30AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays required during peak season or weather delays.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: You must have a minimum of 3 years of proven, hands-on experience in landscaping and basic irrigation. This is not an entry-level "learn as you go" role.
  • Integrity & Reliability: You show up on time, every time. You do the right thing even when the client isn't watching, ensuring we never take shortcuts that compromise our reputation.
  • Craftsmanship: You possess an eye for detail. You get annoyed when a retaining wall isn't perfectly level or a site is left messy.
  • Lead by Example: You don't just point fingers; you work alongside your crew. You can manage a team in the Texas heat without losing your cool, adapt to curveballs, and maintain strict adherence to the daily schedule.
  • Requirements: A valid Drivers License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to routinely lift 50+ lbs and perform strenuous physical labor outdoors in extreme Texas heat for 8-10 hours a day.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills a plus

Why Work for Bluebonnet?
Serving The Woodlands since 1988, we value craftsmanship, reliability, and treating our team members with respect. We offer a stable environment with loyal clients, top-tier wages for top-tier talent, and a culture that values getting the job done right so we can all go home to our families.
How to Apply
If you have the experience to back up your work and the leadership to run a site, we want to talk to you. Please send your resume to careers@bluebonnetoutdoors.com.
Veterans with engineering, construction, or field leadership experience are highly encouraged to apply.
