Job description

Summary: The primary purpose of the Enhancement Crew Leader is to organize their team and to perform landscape installation/maintenance tasks, making sure the tasks are completed in a safe manner while meeting or exceeding Yardnique’s standards of quality, production, and customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned landscaping tasks in accordance with project requirements and the scope of work in a timely manner. Typical projects include, but not limited to:
  1. Plant replacements.
  2. Drainage.
  3. Brush cutting and pruning.
  4. Grading and sod laying.
  5. Miscellaneous hardscaping.
  • Communicate the scope of work with the crew under your supervision, and make sure all the members of the team are aware and fully understand their tasks for the day.
  • Promote a safe work environment; always understand and model company safety policies (PPE) and procedures and report any accidents and/or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Supervise the proper and safe operation of crew truck and trailer, hand tools, pruners, blowers, and equipment including but not limited to skid steers, walk-behind and ride on mini skid steers and track loaders, trenchers, etc. Ensure all equipment is secure at all times in the truck and trailer, on the job site, and at the shop at the end of the day.
  • Perform basic level preventative maintenance on equipment such as checking fluid levels, oil changes, tire pressure, blades, etc.
  • Ensure that assigned crew members perform the duties of the day’s work to Yardnique and industry standards.
  • Report any damage to company equipment or job site property in a timely manner.
  • Complete and process all necessary job paperwork, including Equipment Inventory Forms, Safety Sheets and employee time sheets.
  • Work all assigned hours; confirm that assigned crew time worked is accurate according to time reporting procedures. Report any discrepancies to your manager.
  • Interact with managers, subcontractors, customers, crew members, and peers in a professional and courteous manner, and demonstrate appropriate dress and conduct to Yardnique expectations at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years’ experience performing landscaping and related tasks preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience supervising and coaching teams of 3 or more in using landscape equipment, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience maintaining equipment and enforcing safety policies and procedures (PPE).
  • Ability to handle the workload and physical demands of the job.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Driver’s License – (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Strongly preferred)

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subjected to strenuous work in adverse weather conditions, as well as exposure to dirt, water, chemicals, noise, etc.

Physical Demands
The duties of this job require:

  • Using upper and lower body to work in various positions including, but not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Reaching over head with hands and arm to hold, climb or balance.
  • Using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Lifting, pulling and pushing materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Travel:
Crew members travel from main operations building to job sites in company truck and back on a daily basis.
