Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader

The Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for working in the field with a crew overseeing and directing the daily operations of a landscape crew, making sure crew remains on schedule, communicating with management and office staff. This includes assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The Crew Leader must be knowledgeable in all aspects of landscape maintenance and have good leadership skills. The Crew Leader will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of equipment and tools, the completion of all necessary paperwork, site reports/documentation, maintenance of assigned equipment and ensuring the crew follows all safety protocols. The Crew Leader will also be responsible for the training and supervision of crew members. The Landscape Crew Leader ensures that projects are completed efficiently, on time, to scope and according to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of landscape crew members making sure work is completed to customer standards
  • Maintain Schedules and deadlines, assign work to crew members
  • Train crew members in proper landscape techniques and use of tools
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality
  • Maintain landscape equipment and supplies
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed
  • Communicate with site personnel or client representatives when required

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader Skills

  • Organizational skills, must have ability to use Email, Site reporting applications via smartphone
  • Leadership skills, ability to lead by example and be a team player
  • Knowledge of landscape operations and horticulture practices
  • Knowledge and adherence of all local and state rules, regulations and requirements when applicable
  • Ability to operate landscape equipment and machinery
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time, including nights, weekends or holidays
  • Able to lift 50lbs.

Landscape/Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader Requirements

  • Possess a valid Driver’s License with minimum of 5 years’ drivers experience
  • Be legally able to work in the United States
  • Currently possess a current DOT Medical card, or obtain one withing the first 30 days of employment
  • Ability to drive a non CDL truck and trailer
  • Pass applicable back round check
  • Possess a smart Phone or device
  • Ability to supervise and lead a landscape crew(s)
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Basic Knowledge of irrigation systems
  • Ability to identify landscape plants, grasses, weeds and possible diseases
  • Comprehensive knowledge and operation of tools required to complete work tasks Mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, edgers, string trimmers, blowers and other support equipment
