Interns typically assist with site analysis, design development, drafting plans, and project presentations. This internship is an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, build a professional portfolio, and develop skills in landscape design, environmental planning, and teamwork. It also helps interns understand the day-to-day responsibilities of landscape architects and prepares them for a future career in the industry.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a landscape architect intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Landscape Architect Intern, you can expect to contribute to a variety of projects, such as park designs, urban green spaces, residential developments, and site planning. Typical responsibilities include assisting with site analysis, preparing concept sketches, conducting research, creating CAD drawings, and supporting the team in client presentations. Interns often collaborate closely with senior landscape architects, engineers, and planners, which provides valuable exposure to the design process and project management. This hands-on experience helps interns develop both technical and communication skills, laying a strong foundation for future career growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a landscape architect intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Landscape Architect Intern, you need foundational knowledge in landscape design, site analysis, and sustainability, typically supported by progress toward a degree in landscape architecture or a related field.
