Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking highly qualified individuals with a strong background in business intelligence, data warehousing, data mining, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, and data reporting to apply for the Business Intelligence Engineer position.
The Business Intelligence Engineer designs and develops data modeling for the data warehouse; monitors the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes; and provides technical support for the systems and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
  • Database programming languages
  • Relational database SQL and non-relational database SQL
  • Business Intelligence (BI), data lake, and data warehousing concepts and tools
  • Components of business intelligence semantic model
  • Databases, data queries, data mining, data acquisition, and ETL strategies and tools
  • Data analysis and root cause analysis
  • Software engineering principles and skills working on Unix/Linux/Windows Operating systems, Version Control, and Office software
  • Data platform support in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, etc.
  • Reporting analytics and data visualization tools
  • Principles and concepts of data design patterns for organizing data lakehouses such as Medallion Architecture

Required Education and ExperienceEducation: Bachelor's degree with major coursework in computer science, data science, management information system, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Five years of business intelligence data and reporting experience including three years in designing and implementing data warehouses, including data mining, ETL, and BI.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available.
