Laboratory Manager, Virginia Operations

Position Overview

Diamond Medical Laboratories of Virginia is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Laboratory Manager to oversee and lead all clinical laboratory operations for our new Virginia startup location. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, maintaining high-quality laboratory standards, and leading laboratory personnel in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical laboratory operations and ensure efficient workflow throughout all departments

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA/COLA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and all applicable Virginia regulatory requirements

  • Maintain laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs

  • Review and approve laboratory policies, procedures, and validation studies

  • Supervise and support laboratory management and technical staff

  • Ensure proper staffing levels and operational coverage

  • Monitor laboratory performance metrics, turnaround times, and service quality

  • Serve as the primary clinical and regulatory authority for the Virginia laboratory location

  • Participate in inspections, audits, proficiency testing, and corrective action planning

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and operational teams across both Virginia and Maryland locations

  • Assist with implementation of new testing platforms, instrumentation, and operational initiatives

  • Maintain strong professional relationships with physicians, nursing facilities, and healthcare partners

  • Ensure critical values and abnormal laboratory results are communicated appropriately and timely

  • Support business growth and client retention efforts when needed

  • Oversee laboratory safety programs and infection control standards

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia Laboratory Manager qualifications meeting CLIA/COLA requirements

  • Experience managing high-volume clinical laboratory operations preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Long-Term Care laboratory workflows and compliance requirements

  • Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS)

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and locations

Preferred Experience

  • Experience servicing Long-Term Care or Skilled Nursing Facilities

  • Experience with molecular diagnostics, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and microbiology operations

  • Multi-site laboratory leadership experience preferred

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field; Master's Degree preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting

  • Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 ANNUALLY
