Job description

This position requires an ACTIVE DoD security clearance. Applicants who do not currently hold an active clearance will not be considered.

At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.

In this role, you'll support the U.S. Navy's Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) program at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, Virginia. Working alongside Navy personnel, engineers, and combat systems professionals, you'll help ensure the operational readiness, integration, and modernization of one of the Navy's premier combat systems supporting the Fleet.

About the Role

PMAT is seeking an experienced SSDS Operations Coordinator to support the U.S. Navy's Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) program at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, Virginia.

In this role, you'll serve as a senior technical and operational leader responsible for coordinating activities supporting SSDS Mk 1 and Mk 2 Combat Systems across operational, engineering, integration, and test environments. You'll work closely with Navy personnel, engineers, technicians, and program leadership to support combat systems readiness, tactical capability development, and the successful execution of mission-critical activities supporting the Fleet.

The ideal candidate combines deep operational knowledge of Navy Combat Systems with proven leadership experience managing technical performance, schedule, quality, and delivery. This position offers the opportunity to directly support the continued evolution of one of the Navy's most advanced integrated combat systems while contributing to national defense and warfighter readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operational activities supporting Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Mk 1 and Mk 2 combat systems.
  • Support the planning, execution, and coordination of combat systems operations, integration, system testing, and evaluation activities.
  • Lead technical coordination across government and contractor teams supporting Surface, Air, and Strike Warfare mission areas.
  • Manage technical performance, reliability, maintainability, cost, schedule, and delivery requirements for assigned efforts.
  • Coordinate engineering, maintenance, logistics, and operational stakeholders to ensure mission success.
  • Support combat systems integration, troubleshooting, system readiness assessments, and operational capability improvements.
  • Assist with planning and execution of laboratory, land-based, and shipboard test events supporting Navy combat systems modernization.
  • Prepare technical reports, operational status updates, schedules, metrics, and executive briefings for government leadership.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend corrective actions to improve mission effectiveness and system availability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NAVSEA, DoD, customer, and program policies, standards, and quality requirements.
