Lab Technician I

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician I to join our team. The primary responsibilities will involve various lab duties, including preparing and handling specimens, assisting with lab organization, and performing essential lab maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience and advance their careers in the medical laboratory field.

Responsibilities

  • Accessioning specimens
  • Preparing slide trays
  • Filing blocks and slides
  • Assisting with lab organization and maintenance
  • Preparing solutions and recycling chemicals
  • Performing tissue embedding after training
  • Assisting with H&E slide preparation
  • Cleaning lab equipment and tools
  • Stocking lab supplies and performing inventory
  • Adhering to compliance and completing training

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Laboratory Science, Environmental Science, etc.)
  • High School Diploma required
  • Previous lab experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 wpm preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills

Work Environment

The position is based in a Pathology Lab with working hours from Monday to Friday between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. The schedule may rotate to include weekends depending on business needs. This role provides an opportunity to gain the required hours and experience to qualify for the HT or ASCP Exam within a year of employment. Upon certification, there is a potential for a pay increase and opportunities for advancement based on performance reviews, progressing to Tech II, Tech III, Team Lead, and higher levels.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.25 - $17.25/hr.
