The role…

As a member of the Urbana team, you will be responsible for a basic understanding of quantitative and qualitative tests on paper produced and/or converted in the facility. This position supports a 24/7 operation working a 3-2-2 schedule rotating 2 weeks 7a-7p then 2 weeks 7p-7a.

How you’ll make an impact…

  • Follow all applicable Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Provide laboratory analysis of manufactured product
  • Collect machine samples for testing and archiving
  • Perform tests per specified standards; provide interpretations and conclusions
  • Keep routine testing up-to-date, report deviations/issues in testing
  • Communicate problems, errors, and/or, defects to the appropriate department, support the development of corrective actions
  • Assist in new product development testing
  • Troubleshoot and adjust testing machine controls and components
  • Document and explain all data according to procedures in SAP or other databases
  • Maintain a clean work environment and document housekeeping and 5S compliance
  • Complete routine maintenance on assigned tools, devices, and equipment
  • Calibrate lab equipment and other equipment as required
  • Note: Other duties may be required

What do you bring…

  • High School Diploma or GED required, two years of quality experience preferred
  • Comprehend and apply basic reading, arithmetic, and geometry
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as a ruler, tape measure, calipers, and micrometers (testing required)
  • Ability to read directions and apply them to the job
  • Ability to work with production operators to identify corrective actions to quality issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision in a team environment
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
  • Physical requirements – lift and manipulate unwieldy parts weighing approximately 50 lbs up to 60 lbs with help.  Ability to push and pull 60 lbs on own
  • Physical requirements to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
  • Basic keyboarding skills and basic knowledge of computer operations
  • Ability to train others
