Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in the beautiful city of Sarasota, Florida. From our upper floors, you can see the beautiful white sand beaches of Siesta Key, the #1 rated beach in the United States. Our health care system and laboratory are growing. We have recently built an additional hospital in Venice, Florida and have added a new Cancer Institute. Our laboratory is one of the most progressive and automated laboratories in the country. We have also recently insourced our Blood Bank patient testing services. The positions we post are additions, not replacements. We are growing, we will have additional Medical Laboratory Scientist positions in our Blood Bank, Core Laboratory and Microbiology. Required Qualifications
Medical Lab Scientists
- Require a Bachelor's degree in a health science program or medical laboratory science. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of required degree. Employees hired prior to 1/1/09 are grandfathered into this position.
- Require current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute: 61F-5; or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date. Note: Limited scope of practice will be utilized until licensure has been obtained. Limited Scope: Results entry will not be performed.
Medical Lab Technicians
- Require Associate's degree in health related field. Employees hired prior to 1/1/09 or new hires with licensures awarded prior to 1/1/09, are exempt from the degree requirement.
- Require qualification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or an equivalent medical technician.
- Require current technician license required under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute 61F-5, or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date
