Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Pathology provides daily supervisory oversight of the pathology service line across Health First, Inc., and is accountable in supporting the service needs of the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) functions, processes, regulatory requirements, and operations. Supports Health First's Director, and Manager, Laboratory Medicine & Pathology on execution of Health First's Mission and Vision. Provides frontline leadership of daily lab operations to the pathology department.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
  1. Supervises daily operations of the pathology service line across the IDN to include Specimen Processing, Histology, Cytology, and Professional Pathology services, consistent with the mission & vision of Health First Inc.
  2. Supporting the laboratory manager, and HF lab leadership team, accountable to all accreditation agencies ensuring the laboratory's successful compliance with its regulatory requirements (CAP, TJC, FL State, AABB, OSHA, etc.)
  3. Maintains a safe work environment for laboratory staff, as outlined by various accreditation agencies.
  4. Organizes and oversees departmental work schedule. Ensures 24/7 coverage of the department.
  5. Oversees daily quality control operations and aligns department with HF laboratory's QA program.
  6. Solicits feedback from front line staff, consistently implements process improvement changes based on feedback received.
  7. Develops collaborative relationships with inter-professional departments and ongoing partnership with other supervisors and other members of Health First leadership team to ensure organization's goals are achieved.
  8. Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact productively and effectively with associates, leaders, clinicians, staff, and customers.
  9. Shows commitment to culture "Continuous Quality Improvement" through incorporation of evidenced based laboratory medicine, benchmarking, and implementation of recommended guidelines.
  10. Supervises resources allotted to assigned laboratory department.
  11. Serves and performs all functions of a CLIA general supervisor for the laboratory in all sections of responsibility.
  12. Engages laboratory associates with constant and proactive communication of departmental goals, wins, ongoing projects, and changes within the Health First.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate of Science degree from NCCLS approved Histology Program, any related science field as outlined by CLIA; or previous experience equivalent to education as outlined by appropriate licensing agencies.
  • Work Experience: Five (5) years working in pathology as a Histology Technician or Technologist.
  • Licensure: Histology Supervisor license in the State Florida.
  • Certification: None
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: General leadership and management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree Histotechnologist (HTL) or any related sciences
  • Work Experience: Three (3) year pathology supervisor experience
  • Certification: Histotechnician HT(ASCP); or able to obtain state license; Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP).
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Previous experience in leadership and management role
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to Endure >8-hour workday in periods of high demand.
  • Pass colorblindness test.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform clinical/technical tasks.
  • Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. unassisted.
