Job Title: Senior Manager, Lab Operations

Location: DeLand, FL 32724, US (Onsite)

Schedule: Tuesday – Friday (9:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with alternating Saturdays every 12 weeks

Position Type: Full-time (Backfill)

Base Salary: USD $97,100 – $148,700 / year

Variable Compensation: $7,500.00 annual bonus

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Lab Operations is responsible for leading day-to-day technical and operational functions within our high-volume, high-complexity testing laboratory. This role ensures the smooth execution of processes, strict regulatory compliance, and robust teammate development. Providing hands-on leadership for laboratory teams, you will serve as a vital bridge between frontline operations and senior leadership, reporting directly to the Director, Laboratory Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee assigned laboratory lanes to ensure they consistently meet performance, quality, and financial targets.
  • Monitor operational data and key performance metrics to make informed decisions regarding staffing, resources, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support the standardization of processes, policies, and procedures across shifts.
  • Partner with senior leadership on long-term planning for service line growth and operational improvements.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and engage laboratory supervisors and frontline teams to foster a culture of accountability, belonging, and high performance.
  • Mentor emerging leaders, focusing on professional growth, skills progression, and succession planning.
  • Drive effective cross-shift and cross-department communication to maintain operational excellence around the clock.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all laboratory testing is performed accurately, documented properly, and compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee robust quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs to maintain the highest standards of clinical laboratory services.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure service excellence.
  • Resolve operational issues and client concerns in a timely, professional, and empathetic manner.
  • Support strategic initiatives, corporate projects, and continuous improvement activities as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Haves & Technical Certifications

  • Certification: Medical Technologist registry (ASCP, NCA, AAB, or equivalent) is required.
  • Licensure: Valid Florida Laboratory Supervisor License is required.

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related sciences is required. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or relevant sciences is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of laboratory leadership experience in a high-volume, high-complexity testing environment.
  • Industry Domain: Proven track record of leading teams, driving process improvements, managing operational performance, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, federal, and state regulations).

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships across diverse teams.
