THE ROLE

Our client, a regional acute care hospital, is seeking a Microbiology Section Lab Supervisor for a full-time permanent position. The Section Supervisor is a credentialled Clinical Laboratory Scientist responsible for overseeing all operations within the Microbiology section of the clinical laboratory, including supervision of technical staff, performance of Quality Control, instrumentation maintenance, and ongoing compliance with regulatory standards. The role operates within a laboratory that upholds strict standards of patient confidentiality, accuracy, and professional conduct aligned with the hospital’s mission of caring, courteous, and confidential service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the Microbiology section, ensuring quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
  • Perform and oversee technical procedures, Quality Control activities, and instrumentation operation and maintenance
  • Take all steps necessary to assure quality laboratory results and patient sample integrity
  • Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory reports and patient-identifiable information
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards applicable to Clinical and Anatomic Laboratories
  • Promote the hospital’s mission and professional standards through courteous, accurate, and responsible conduct
  • Perform other laboratory duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

Must-Have

  • ★  Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related discipline
  • ★  Active Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) licensure — current and in good standing
  • ★  ASCP Registry (MLS(ASCP), M(ASCP), or equivalent) — required
  • ★  Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience, with demonstrated microbiology competency
  • ★  No visa sponsorship — must be authorised to work in the United States

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, with supervisory or lead experience in a microbiology section
  • Experience in an acute care hospital laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory frameworks (CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission)
