Job Summary:
NEOGOV is associated with Bellevue College, a diverse and innovative institution committed to student success. The Part-time Computer Lab Lead in Information Technology System (ITS) is responsible for overseeing the computer lab operations, providing technical assistance, and supervising student staff while ensuring the security and maintenance of lab equipment.
Responsibilities:
• Respond to customer questions using effective communication skills.
• Responsible for some installation, configuration and maintenance of software, printers, scanners, and peripherals.
• Ensure the security of computers, care of the lab equipment, upkeep of supplies, and provide smooth operation.
• Responsible for supervision, instruction, training and orientation of student staff, including demonstrating the proper use of a computer and software.
• Provide technical assistance, ensure proper maintenance and security of all aspects of the computer labs within the Information Technology Services rules and guidelines.
• Assist faculty with lab reservation or with special software requests.
• Act as a back up to the Lab Manager with duties such as maintaining procedural or training documentation.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and safety of all computing labs, conduct daily walkthrough of labs and ensure that every component of the lab is working properly.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Associate's degree and two years relevant experience; or high school degree and combination of relevant experience
• Knowledge and experience with Windows computers and operating systems and an array of technical proficiencies
• Organization skills, works well with minimal supervision, and has the ability to facilitate problem resolution
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written and listening) since they will have daily interaction with students, faculty and staff
Preferred:
• A+ Certification
• Knowledge and experience with Mac and Windows computers and operating systems
• Demonstrated ability to work well with largely non-technical clientele and ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff with differing levels of computer knowledge
• Experience managing computer labs and the software typically used to manage them
• Basic understanding of Windows compatible hardware
• Experience in diagnosing problems with computer software with the ability to apply solutions to the problems
• Working knowledge of standard applications (ex. word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet browsers, etc.)
• Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change
• Team player, engaged with the management and team members
• Ability to adhere to the polices, protocols and guidelines set by the department
• Excellent documentation skills
• Ability to multi-task
