The Malik Lab (Basic Sciences Division) is looking for part-time Lab Aideย to join a collaborative research team. The lab studies the evolutionary biology of genetic conflicts to gain insight into their mechanisms and consequences. The lab aide will be responsible for helping with general laboratory duties and budding yeast husbandry as well as various molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g., PCR, bacterial cloning).

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine work in a research laboratory under close supervision of the Postdoc or other senior personnel.
  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions.
  • Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning, deliver glassware to storage areas.
  • Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area and equipment.
  • May replenish supplies.
  • May assist lab personnel with experiments and set up.
  • Follow safety / biohazard precautions and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program or previous scientific coursework.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
