Job description


The Laboratory Technician l performs testing of basic components and systems in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and acceptable industry standards in support of senior technicians.
This position will serve our Rheem North America, located in Fort Smith, Arkansas (Onsite).
Responsibilities
  • Apply the basics of air flow measurements and computations including temperatures (dry bulb, wet bulb, dew point, relative humidity) and pressure incorporating temperature relationships to test setup and execution.
  • Setup, adjust, and change test samples and setups for testing, and perform the required testing in accordance with engineering specifications or defined test practices.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, summarize, and document data and information gathered during testing.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair test equipment, instrumentation, and systems in accordance with engineering specifications or defined test practices.
  • Use of hand tools including welding and brazing tools.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to operate computer systems for data acquisition, recording test results, project status reporting and to manage test documentation, records and reports.
  • Manage electronic communications and assigned tasks and task documentation.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to manage electronic communications and test and project documentation
  • Provide regular verbal and written reports summarizing project results and conclusions to project leaders.
  • Write reports covering test conditions, procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Complete assigned tasks and participate in R&D design development teams according to defined requirements.
  • Assist with installation, modification, and build of developmental commercial HVAC equipment and components, following engineering, agency, and test requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 1+ year experience
  • EPA type universal

KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Basic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to understand equipment assembly, basic electrical wiring, and basic system maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to obtain a Forklift license within 6 months of hire
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
  • Ability to learn to work with EPA, DOE, AHRI, CSA, UL, ASHRAE

HOW TO STAND OUT:
  • Experience in job industry related products, service and installation preferred.
  • Experience with driving and operating a lift truck preferred
  • Basic grasp of refrigeration related thermodynamic principles and mechanical troubleshooting is preferred
