About this Position

The Histology Lab Supervisor is responsible for oversight and management of daily activities in the histology section of the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (OADDL). This position will assist the histology lab manager in the supervision, training and proficiency of Senior Lab Technicians and student workers.

The Lab Supervisor will work closely with the histology lab manager to gross complex tissue specimens for histological evaluation (including limbs, mandibles, spleens, digits,etc.), process slides and oversee daily slide production, ensure quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA), and maintain lab certification documents. Other responsibilities will include assisting in training and completing research cases.

Required Qualifications
  • Vocational/Technical (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Plus two years of lab experience OR High School/GED and four years experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Rabies immunization is required and will be provided.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Working knowledge and proficiency in histology techniques; specifically grossing, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and proficiency in general use of laboratory equipment are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's

    Biology or related field.

  • 3-5 years of lab experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory setting.
