Job Description

The Littleton General Manager (GM) is responsible for maintaining a positive operating margin at the laboratory level and for meeting and exceeding the annual budget. They shall collaborate with on-site/off-site lab managers, perform operations out of the Littleton facility, and share responsibility, at the site level, for operating margins and for annual budgets. Littleton GM will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and integration of facility operations with corporate and regulatory policies and procedures.

General Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manages the laboratory and facility operations to provide positive operating margin and meet annual budgetary goals.
  • The GM will be responsible for the culture of the lab and employee engagement under their hierarchy, act confidentially in employee matters, and partner with Human Resources to ensure that all policies and programs are applied consistently throughout the laboratory.
  • Directly manage the lab and provide technical support, report reviews, and occasionally assisting with testing as needed.
  • Builds and maintains positive customer relationships and sales growth through direct interaction with customers and Eurofins sales personnel.
  • Attend and participate in key business meetings, conferences, and trade shows to build relationships and maintain subject matter expertise.
  • Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that SOP's for the facility are implemented and reviewed on a regular basis so that the facility is operated in a compliant manner which allows it to produce defensible data.
  • Ensure the laboratory maintains its ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Interface directly with accreditation bodies (e.g., A2LA) and lead internal/external audit processes.
  • Prioritizes the activities of the operations groups to ensure key goals are achieved and customer service needs are addressed.
  • Works with Lab Managers to ensure accurate P&L forecast, provide quality analytical data to clients, and meet on-time delivery dates.
  • Leads Business Team activities to develop and implement sales strategies to ensure budgetary goals are achieved. Ability to travel for business purposes is required.
  • Communicates facility-specific goals and objectives to employees. Communicates and implements company initiatives designed to foster teamwork and communication.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities with direct reports to achieve strong staff performance. Mentors key employees.
  • Evaluates and maintains appropriate staffing levels to support operational needs and budgetary requirements. Collaborates with the Business Controller and HR Business Partner to discuss and review manpower regularly.
  • Works with the IT Group to ensure that the facility has appropriate Information Technology resources and that they are being used effectively to support operational requirements.
  • Actively participates in the process of sharing and adopting best practices within Eurofins. Provides technical assistance to other Eurofins laboratories as needed to improve productivity and customer service.
  • Approves of all laboratory purchases including capital spending approvals to support the business plan and maintain profitability.
  • Collaborates with the Business Controller to review financial information for the lab and put into place actions to proactively manage laboratory cost controls and financial performance.
  • Responsible for upholding and enforcing Company policies, including but not limited to, Quality, Safety, Standard Operating Procedures, Ethics, and Harassment.
  • Enforce strict laboratory safety protocols regarding high-voltage equipment and general environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines.
  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by management and for which management believes adequate experience exists, or for which knowledge can be easily obtained in order to perform such duties.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of Leadership experience in a Laboratory setting, preferably in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, manage diverse engineering teams, and drive accountability.
  • Familiarity with FCC, EU, CB-Scheme, OSHA, SCC , and other regulatory standards, schemes and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer relations skills.
  • Ability to manage a business at a profit/loss responsibility level.
  • Ability to control operating budgets.
  • Ability to develop and enforce policies and operating practices.

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily an office and laboratory environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required (typically 10-15%).

This is a high-profile position that requires corporate and site level interactions. This position requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to work well and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff as a team member and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
