About the Opportunity

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a well-established Critical Access Hospital in the scenic Monadnock Region of New Hampshire to recruit an experienced Laboratory Manager. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a laboratory professional who is passionate about operational excellence, quality patient care, and building strong laboratory teams.

The Laboratory Manager will oversee the daily operations of the hospital laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. This individual will lead a dedicated team, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborate closely with hospital leadership to support exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and timely reporting of patient results

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop laboratory personnel through coaching, performance management, scheduling, and ongoing education

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, CMS, and all applicable state and federal regulations

  • Maintain laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs, investigating and implementing corrective actions as needed

  • Develop, review, and update laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures

  • Manage laboratory budgets, inventory, supply purchasing, and vendor relationships

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to support high-quality patient care

  • Oversee laboratory instrumentation, maintenance schedules, validations, and implementation of new equipment and testing methodologies

  • Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency and service

  • Ensure laboratory readiness for inspections and accreditation surveys

  • Participate in strategic planning and departmental initiatives to support hospital goals

  • Assist with bench coverage when operational needs require

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline required

  • ASCP certification as an MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent required

  • Previous leadership experience in a hospital clinical laboratory required

  • Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, CMS, OSHA, and laboratory regulatory requirements

  • Experience managing quality systems, proficiency testing, laboratory operations, and personnel

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments while fostering a positive team culture

  • Critical Access Hospital experience is preferred but not required
