We are seeking a nursing instructor to teach in our LVN program, no prior teaching experience required! Must be available to work part-time evening shifts and Saturday clinicals. Evening schedule is Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30pm-11pm and Saturday schedule is 7a-7p.ย 

Job Description

Supports the mission and philosophy of Unitek College Department of Nursing, related to the purpose and function of the simulationย and skills labs as a learning environment.ย Supports allย clinicalย simulated patient care learning experiencesย and skillsย acquiredย in the skills labย forย theย Nursing Programs.ย Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of procedures and guidelines of the Simulationย and Skillsย Labs.ย Participates in a collaborative role with simulation partners within the educationalย arena,ย resultingย inย maintainingย simulationย and skillsย standards and practices current in Unitek Simulationย and Skillsย Labs.

  • Responsible for overseeing the general operation of the Nursing Simulation Center and Skills Labs.ย 

  • Monitors and audits clinical supplies based on simulation and nursing lab needs.ย 

  • Identifies, organizes, andย purchasesย suppliesย requiredย for each nursing skill and simulation clinical experience.ย 

  • Oversees storage and use of equipment in simulations and skills labs.ย 

  • Participates in faculty and student orientation to the nursing simulation laboratory teaching and learningย method.ย 

  • Acts as a faculty resource andย assistsย with clinical skills practice and pass-off sessions in the nursing skills and simulationย labs.ย 

  • Keeps up with current nursing practice and evidence-basedย researchingย in patient simulation and clinical skillsย education.ย 

  • Enhances clinical nursing education by coordinating patient simulation and skills lab experience to support the didactic course content and level of theย student.ย 

  • Evaluates effectiveness of the simulation center and skills lab operations and makes recommendations to the Asst. Dean of Nursing for improvementย 

  • Maintains safety standardsย regardingย the use of equipment and hazardous wasteย disposalย in simulationย centerย and skills labs.ย 

  • Assistsย in developing the nursing simulation center and skills labย budget;ย makesย recommendations for equipmentย purchasesย to maintain standards essential for effective studentย instruction.ย ย 

  • Oversees the development of policies and procedures for simulation center and skills lab activities that provide for effective learning experiences and safe practice.ย 

  • In conjunction with Simulation and Lab personnel, prepares andย maintainsย simulation and skills lab equipment, media, computers, and materials related to simulation and skills labs.ย 

  • Collaborates with faculty, simulation centerย and skills lab staff in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating simulation education, lab activities, and curriculum material to support student achievement of nursing programย outcomes.ย 

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates simulation activitiesย in accordance withย program and accreditation policies, courseย objectives, and program outcomes.ย 

  • Directs andย maintainsย inventory of supplies to support allย instructionย in the simulation center and skills labs and provides direction for all inventory ofย supplies.ย 

  • Promotesย an optimalย learning environment in all simulation and lab areas for all participants and facilitators.ย 

  • Runs simulation events, as needed, and provides support to students, faculty, and simulation educators using simulation.ย 

  • Meet with Assistant Dean to discuss simulation and lab staff needs.ย 

  • ย Communicate needs and work with Asst. Dean to post open positions.ย 

  • Involved in the interview process; helpย determineย what candidates will be hired.ย 

  • Conducts evaluations of simulation and lab staff at the end of each semester.ย 

  • Provides direction for all supportย staff.ย 

  • Maintainsย all standardsย requiredย to meet regulation andย accreditation.ย 

  • Serves as a member of the curriculum committee and the Nursing Simulation Committeeย 

  • Available to teach up to 50% of time

Qualifications
  • Must hold a currentย BSNย licenseย in the state where the campus isย located.ย 
  • Aย Master'sย degreeย fromย accreditedย college or University that includesย course workย in nursing, education, or administration.ย 

  • Previousย simulation center experience isย required.ย 

  • Certification in simulation education (CHSE) or obtain CHSE certification within one (1) year.ย 

  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programsย 

  • At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience asย determinedย by the Board.ย 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.ย 

  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications.ย
